Back before Iranians invaded our embassy in Tehran and before the allytollahs took over the Iranians bought Hundreds of millions of aircrafts from the Us. Millitary planes bought by the Shah of iran. When they over threw the shah, the US refused to deliver the planes and froze the cash deposit within the United states.
Back in january the iranians and the US came to terms during the settlement of lifting sanctions and the hundreds of millions became payable. However the sanctions were lifted gradually to see how The Iran deal played out. Since the United States no longer has a banking relationship we could not just pay by check. The the vast amount was loaded in aplane and delivered.
It was not our money in the first place and it was simply paid off with interest.
