The Catholic League's opinion of sexual abuse victims

I guess the priests were not doinf anything wrong it was all the fault of the victim's

Good thing the church is 'moving on'.

Too bad they left the victims behind.

Speaking about the victims Bill Donohue says.

"Everyone else has moved on, but those who have an ideological, emotional or financial interest in continuing this saga cannot let go. What a pitiful bunch of malcontents."

Re: The Catholic League's opinion of sexual abuse victims

Bishop Finn of KC was told there was child porno on a priest's computer yet he waited three-months to tell police. Instead trys to discredit those who bring complaints.

Special place in eternity for people who do these things and for those who enable it.

I remember when the Church and the government in Canada were proven to be cahoots to have people declared unfit so there would be workers for the poorhouses. Same in Ireland.

See Canuck, if we actually followed Biblical Laws those "priests" would be swinging by the neck on a short rope.  On a radio show there was a story of a wrestling team sodomizing a teammate that didn`t make his weight class.  Now that was a criminal act and should be punished as such.  The namby pamby media is trying to minimumize it a "bullying" or "hazing" ..Nope that is a criminal act and juvenile detention should be sentenced to the rapists, or if I was in charge remove them from the gene pool.

Re: The way I see it

The church teaches forgiveness and redemption and that anyone can be saved regardless of how offensive the sin. The bible does not signify that the sin of rape is any worse than lying about it.

Thus if we depend on the mercy of the lord god almighty we should just as readily forgive rapists and molestors. I would imagine that the heads of the chruch would expect forgiveness from those injured by these acts and they certainly shouldn't demand reparations for that indicates they seek retribution which is hardly the act of a forgiving soul.

These priest were pedophiles. They should have been removed from the priesthood and from society. A pedophile can not be rebuilt, once a pedophile they are pedophilia for life. This is understood now, back when some of the first abuse occurred the church thought these pedophiles could be rehabilitated. They were wrong. I hope and pray to God the Church has taken action against all pedophiles in their mist and pray that Almighty God will have pity on their soul.

Yes the churches and government have done many wrong things through the years working together to 'save' people.

The 'saving' paved the way for some in the churches to abuse people in different ways and the ramifications of those evil thiings are still being felt in some communities and families.

In the case that I posted the church just wants to forget the past and move on without admitting all the problems they left behind that need help to improve their life and the lives of their families.

I do not believe killing anyone is an answer or a punishment that will get any results except vengence which is not a help.

Do not think the media has been hiding this but many institutions including churches did hide it for years.

I think some of the people responsible for hiding it should suffer a little punishment too.

if you helped a bank robber get away or hide you would be punished.

Well you can skip the lord and god almighty and just lock up the criminals who did this to young people as well as those who hide the truth for years.

Forgive them yes if they are truly remorsefull but more important would be to help the victims who have lived with this for years. A shamefull remembrance which has spoiled many victims ability to live a happy peacefull life.

Prying will not help but why are we not prosecuting those who hide this wrong and protected the wrong doers from facing the courts over their misdeeds.

in too many cases higher ups moved church people to other churches to keep things quiet and then the wrong was committed on more people.

There is lots of blame to go around and way too few who are seeing any punishment of any kind for it.

Now this group wants to just forget the victims and 'move on', funny way to show compassion yet they will say they are true believers out to help the world and everyone in it.
