Re: The end is near
Although the National Review is well known to have become a purveyor of Fake News in recent years.
Like the Bakken, "technically recoverable" reserves say little about cost of recovery. And even if they are at some price the decline rate of the conventional reserves moves along inexorably.
Dennison got a little bit lucky by popping oil prices up a bit by accident with some of his geopolitical thrashing around but reality has come back around.
In the Permian some sweet spots where land was acquired cheaply are making money. But now they're bidding different expectations into the game and the only big winners are the landowners- public and private.

Re: The end is near
Selfish,
I'd say the winners are all the people in gainful employment from pencil pushers, secretaries, to welders, truck drivers, sandmen, to pumpers, dozer operators, linemen, mechanics, safety guys, and on down the line including waitresses and maids at motels.
A lot of people feed themselves and their families by the industry. A simplistic view to try to diminish the number of people benefiting is BS.

Re: The end is near
One thing for sure 2002 they ain't making more oil and gas, at least no where near as fast as we are using it.
The day will come when no one can find another new deposit and no more dinosaurs to produce more.
I guess that is all worthless info for any of you that think the world is only a few thousand years old and oil deposits were just 'created' not formed from previous life forms millions of years ago but it is a fact.

nor
nor is it anywhere near as preposterous of an assertion as the harharhar crowd would have you think that releasing as much carbon in a year as it took those natural processes millions of years to sequester might create a degree of imbalance.
But now we know where Lyin' '02 is coming from- he's one of the greedy satanists who want to destroy God's creation.
Canuck, you have my permission to take the last bit as a metaphor if you'd like.

Re: nor
It would have to be a metaphor since so far there is no evidence of any god existing let alone one that created anything.

Re: The end is near
Only for those religionists who just believe that the world is only a few thousand years old.
And in case you do not know how oil is formed then you are still in the dark so look that up and you will then understand why the world has to be much older than some religionists want it to be to suit their beliefs.
