The president is awful

He made promises he couldn't keep. I'm wonderful and can solve all your problems!

I wonder if he can solve the problems all by himself. That's what he expected Obama to do.

Obama inherited a economy that was hemmoraging 750K jobs a month and was expected to perform a miracle.

What was the recipe for that miracle? Romney still hasn't disclosed his solution for his job creation nirvana. One would think that in the moment of nationwide exposure he would sell his plan with details of how he plans this great economic turn around.

Instead he chose to tell us how wonderful he is and how terrible Obama is.  I wonder how many applicants at job interviews choose not to explain what they can do for the company instead of bashing the other applicants or the guy he is trying to replace. A good strategy? I think not.

As an employer i would not be interested in his opinion of his competitor, but would much rather know what strategy he would use to advance our success.

Are You going to let Romney get by with that? A constant barrage of negativism without even one proposals for the improvement of our economy. I suspect if the people knew what he plans are he would be soundly rejected. He knows that and that is why there is no mention of actual strategies.

Reminds me of Nixons secret plan to end the Viet Nam war. Elect me because I have the answers. All I learned last night was that Romney plans to reinitiate the cold war. Recreate that cold war to justify ever increasing militarization of the US government. Did Bain buy out a military supplier?

You're gonna Hate November!

Re: The president is awful

One thing we know for sure don is that an entire  "groupthink" block has found each other in this country.  They just got a good dose of a campaign that is going to be put out almost entirely in code or by dog whistle.  No need for specifics if you are confident that enough peopl simply "know what you mean".  It's how teh leaders of the more radical wings of the Evangelical movement communicate  (there's your religion bit 000003020 so GFYS).  Nothing specific, but distinctly recognizable. And that all very well may work to the advantage of the people who have much invested in the Romneys and Ryans of the world.  Apt and capable leuitentants for the drafting of a corporate state.

I'm surprised at the stark neocnservative presence and tone.  Naive, I suppose.  I'd have thought they would have feared being tied to the failures of the Bush Administration in that.  It looks daring, but it also has to be calculated.  But then, I recall having read somewhere that John Bolton is advising the campaign on foreign policy and that is what you'd get.   The direct reference that I just heard about  to Obama having "thrown Israel under the bus" is unprecedented in it's gall.  Netenyahtu is a bully, the likes of Pinochet or Arafat, yet when our President doesn't bow down to him or kiss ihis a$$ he is vilified for it?

Yeah, some of what Obama has done or not done or pushed for or not pushed for has been dissapointing, if not awful.  But to attack him where he has been the very best and where the public sees him as being the strongest has an erie edge to it.  If it sells and then becomes policy I'd say be very afraid.

Re: The president is awful

Romney check list

*has lasting (30+ year) friendships and relationships

*friends are good, honest, hardworking

*friends work in the private sector

*helps people without the expectation of payment

*can count on friends to help him

*loves wife, god, and family

*took no pay as Gov. of MA

*talks of past

*lets his actions speak for themselves

*takes responsibility

Obama check list

*no lasting friendships

*friends are criminals

*friends all government employees

*has not helped anyone personally

*does nothing without the expectation of compensation

*loves himself

*took pay for no work

*has no past

*only speaks of the actions of others

*blames others

Dawned on me while watching the convention about how many people called Romney friend and how these people has been friend for years,  That only happens when you are a good friend in return. Doing the right thing is what Romney seems to be about.  And we haven't heard of those things, till last night.  So he is also modest.   Who would you rather have watching your back?

I'd go with the guy who had the good sense to team up with Joe Biden

Re: The president is awful

Geeze my typos are bad.  Sorry about that.  I probably won't get any better as I go on.

But do they distort the meaning to the point that you can't decipher something so simple as that?

"He made promises he couldn't keep. I'm wonderful and can solve all your problems!"

Don, can one not make the same comparison to Obama at the dem convention 4 years ago?   Could one not say the same for almost all presidential candidates?

"Instead he chose to tell us how wonderful he is and how terrible Obama is."

Again Don can you not say the same about Obama and most past presidential candidates?

"What was the recipe for that miracle? Romney still hasn't disclosed his solution for his job creation nirvana. One would think that in the moment of nationwide exposure he would sell his plan with details of how he plans this great economic turn around."

Not to beat a dead horse Don but could you tell me what Obama's recipe for a miracle was back at the 08 Dem convention?

What was Obama's step by step plan on how he planned to turn the economy around and lower unemployment back at the 08 convention and just how well has his plan worked out over the last four years to achieve those goals?

What will Obama's plan be at the upcoming 2010 convention?  Going to have to try something different then "Hope and Change."

All candidates make rosy promises to the voters at their conventions.   I suspect candidates from either party would have a much harder time winning if they were more honest and say how they really aren't sure what exactly it will take to right our ship or that after their four year term some of our major problems be not be fixed and still a burden to our country.

If you hired someone to plant your fields to corn, and tend to them, and all that was growing out there come harvest time, was ragweed and cockleburrs, would you hire him again?
