The rights of suspected terrorists are being trampled...Republicans to the rescue

That's right. The Senate is considering not allowing people who are suspected of terrorism  - those who are being or have been investigated - not to be able to buy a gun for a time.

As it stands, people on the Terrorism Watch List that are sus[ected of terrorism or collaborating with terrorists are being denied the right to fly because they are considered too dangerous to board a plane. Paul Ryan said the other day that they should still be able to buy a gun so that they are not denied "due process." Yep, just like the due process that denied their right to fly on a plane. At least they can still buy a gun. One due process is OK and the other is not. Republican logic.

How do you get on a terrorist watch list? Once you are on it can you ever have your name removed? Constitutional rights can not be determed by lists. What about due process?

How do you get on a terrorist watch list?

"Who gets included in the TSDB? - Per HSPD-6, only individuals who are known or reasonably suspected to be or have been engaged in conduct constituting, in preparation for, in aid of, or related to terrorism are included in the TSDB."

Once you are on it can you ever have your name removed? - "Are individuals removed from the TSDB?

Yes. The TSC works with partner agencies through a formal process to remove individuals who no longer meet the HSPD-6 terrorism criteria."

Constitutional rights can not be determed by lists.

Your Constitutional Rights are a list of your rights.

What about due process?

Not my idea. Your congress during the Bush Administration created the Terrorist Watch list and Bush signed it into law. Blame him if you feel due process is being denied to suspected terrorists. I suppose they should be able to buy guns in your opinion?

It is a horrible idea. The Constitution is a list of rights on which the government can not infringe. Watch lists are lists compiled by the government of individuals it determined it has the right to deny the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. If the government wants to put you on a list it needs to be done in the same manner as criminal charges. You are innocent until proven guilty.

OK, so you are for letting suspected terrorists enter and leave the country at will and be able to buy guns. To me it all depends on who they are writing to, calling, getting money from and meeting. If it is with known terrorists, I'm not so sure I want to give them a free pass to keep making plans and get training or money, let alone buying firearms.

If they are US citizens they are protected by the Constitution. If they are not US citizens they must be kept out.

I particularly enjoyed the NRA proposal that would concede to a 3 day waiting period for people on the terror watch list to buy guns.

Anybody who doesn't get a good belly laugh out of that is taking himself way too seriously.

That was Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, Gonzalez.

They purchased some of the loyalty by lifting the hated assault weapons ban.

The Folk's problem (not to them, since the Have Done Everything Right) is that they were 100% in support of it all when they thought they were in charge, now not so much when a Kenyan Socialist Muslim is.

Most will deny it but it is true in at least 99% of cases.

When "Libtards" were complaining they were all on their high patriotic horses.

The progressives want the election to be fought over guns and bathrooms. But this election will be about border security and jobs.
