As I said before, if DADT repeal is not toxic and was such a no brainer "sail through" why didn`t the Lame Ducks wait for the newly elected Ducks to vote on it?   Whoopty-Doo Bruce you found some clips of career military guys a few short years from retirement, what do you think they are going on national television questioning the orders of the Commander-in-Chief ??   No, they will suck it up like a good soldier and in 5 years will be in a trout stream somewhere in Montana.  As I said before "there wasn`t alot of gays in the military to begin with"  so it isn`t like this was a huge gamble.

One of the things that really brought the discrimination situation to light for the military brass was how hard it was to recruit educated linquists and technos because of the policy.  We might have done better form the start in both Iraq and Afghanistan if we'd had better interpretors and it was being discovered that enlistment was horrible among people with those sort of liberal arts degrees and training.

Not that they were all gay or anything.  Just that they came from considerably more enlightened and open backgrounds and experience.
