From the Tucson Sentinel.  Doesn't seem that he threatened anyone other than saying on the internet that he "was ready to kill a police officer".  Our system doesn't punish people for what they might do.  Maybe that isn't good, I don't know.  Seems to be what you folks like to say as "govt overstepping on your rights."

My  problem with Sheriff Dipstick was everytime a camera was stuck in his face he acted like he was shooting a commercial for the Democrat National Committee. Law Enforcement officers are usally tight-lipped on commenting on a case, for fear of damaging their testimony when it goes to court. Generally you hear a lot of "no comment at this time" But this Sheriff, oy vey! He was cackling like a yenta.

Don't forget this bunch favors preemptive strikes. They think it's a good idea to arrest or attack people that have done nothing. They also are the ones that oppose any and all gun legislation and when government tries to tighten up restrictions even to purchase guns, they fight with all their might to oppose it.

Now that this guy blows away almost 20 people, they want to blame the sheriff that tries to maintain order. And they cannot understand why the sheriff is talking so much. I say he is thoroughly disgusted by this event and he had friends and acquaintences that were killed in this attack. I don't think he has said anything that will earn the perpetrator his freedom.

What they don't like about this sheriff is that he is challenging the coarse language of the political arena and those that have been "hinting" that violence may be an acceptable approach for settling issues. This is exactly the kind of behavior that some political have been trying to incite. Turn on the radio and listen to those dolts. It's criminal is what it is, inciting criminal behavior.

So what you propose greenhousw man is to lock up anyone who makes a threat?

Would not be many left to post on this site if everyone who made a threat on here was 'picked up'

You country would need to build some more jails and you already have some of the highest % of citizens locked up in the world.

Law enforcement officer usually are and in the case of criminal proceedings need to be mum. This man, however, is The Sherriff...an an elected public official which would give him a distinctly different job than a beat cop or one of his deputies. He's accountable to the public for the way things are run in his department and if the press has any questions or seeks any information he's the go to guy.

And what he was talking about wasn't to do with the proceedings. He was speaking of his view of a general situation which would be his right. If it was political, so be it. He's probably a little closer to the situation there than just about anybody.

And this crap that some hack winger columnist wrote about the law knew all about the guy  should have known this was a dangerous man and had him dealt with. Just try that somewhere in a voliatal political climate. He'd have been a martyr to the local right in a heartbeat had he been investigated, much less restrained,.

This is the price to live in a free society. If you want to restrain one person's speech because of this they can also restrain yours. If you want to take one person's gun because of this they can also take yours. If you want to lock one person up because of what he might do, they can also lock you up for what you might do. The left are almost giddy over this because they see the chance for political gain. The only thing missing in their view is a Bible didn't fall out of his jacket when he was taken down. It will cost them dearly. The American people are tired of giving up their freedoms. You lefties have to remember you no longer control the message. We have the internet and we know what is going on. He was not the product of nor motivated by the conservatives any more than he was the liberals. He is murderous monster. No more. No less.

I think it's time for the Democrats to introduce a bill in the House, to reinstate the Federal Assault Weapons Act, don't you?
