Re: This forum is just so sad
The reason we didn't get rid of Bush 4 year earlier is because we were not running 1.5 TRILLION dollar deficits. The dems won the congress in 06 running on a platform of fiscal responsibility, and Obama won in 08 run on hope and change, change from run away spending. The repubs won in 10 running on a platform of fiscal responsibility. Do you see a pattern here?

Re: This forum is just so sad Obamacare and Patriot Act
I believe and this will sound very radical that the two parties really are one in the same, rights are being taken away so fast in this country look at the Patriot act and Obamacare. Look at the TSA I wont fly anymore because I dont want my grandkids Sanduskied at the air port. Ill take my chances with terroism just give me my space at let me alone. I think Jefferson said those who will give up freedom for security deserve neither, I guess that's my stance. As far as gun control I think gun control means using two hands, in no way do tougher gun laws prevent violence, and before you say a word research that look at Washington D.C. and Detroit don't watch Micheal Moore, most times your own eyes and instincts are better than any stat a corrupt focus group will tell you. Oh by the way repubs remember Ted Kennedy wrote a big part of the patriot act and the failed education bill that W. championed. Bush was not a good president and I voted for him twice. It was a mistake but Gore and kerry were complete zeros.

Yer a Good Man Cowfarmer
Do not feel that you in anyway wasted your 2 votes for W Bush. He appointed some good Judges, he was dealt a crummy hand with 9/11..he kept the barbarians at the gate longer than most, but in 2008 the lunaticks took over the asylum. God help us all and Vote Republican in 2012 for the sake of your Grandkids.

Re: This forum is just so sad
GTO, you don`t think that a 2nd term Obama WILL go after +10 magazine clips? Maybe a national gun registry? Don`t take this the wrong way GTO but after the Tucson tragedy, you were beating the drums pretty loud for gun control and look at this Papa Wheelie laying the foundation in a few posts. Obama in a 2nd term would have to show tremedous restraint to over come pressure from the left, nothing to lose in a second term, I`d bet that he signs any gun control that lands on his desk...nothing BEFORE November of 2012 though

Re: This forum is just so sad Obamacare and Patriot Act
The repubs sealed their fate in 08 when they voted for TARP. My senator, D i c k Lugar was one of them. Under no circumstance will I ever vote for him again. Tarp was deal breaker for me. I may be could have lived with some kind of government intervention had there been hearing into why it was needed and prosecutions of any criminal activities that lead up to it. The economy could have been saved without paying off CDSs and 100 cents on the dollar. McCain was defeated the moment he signed TARP. From now on it is a conservative or I right in my own name.
As for the TSA. We need to profile. I can live with scanners. Put air marshals on every flight, paid for by the air lines. One would be required by the government. They can add as many as they like. It could be a good selling point......Fly with us, we have 3 air marshals on every flight. Scanning takes only a few seconds and no one sticks their hands in your pants..... Then if other airlines want more scanning they could use that as a selling point as flying with us is safer. Let the consumer decide how much TSA they want in their lives.

Re: This forum is just so sad Obamacare and Patriot Act
We agree on many things, what we disagree on is what fuels the two parties. It is more important for the party to succeed than the Nation.
What Obamacare and the anti-Obamacare neglect to address is we are already paying for all medical car. How those dollars are allocated and where they originate are what needs to be tweaked. Having been on the good and the bad sides of medical insurance I know a change is needed. Devil in the details.
Government is too big and intrusive, same for the multinational corporations and many domestic. They work together regardless of which party is in power.
Thinking either party is the answer is suicide. Vote out all incumbents, rinse and repeat.

Sad to say I don't think I would do the same. They have gone so far off of what I consider realistic that I would probably leave them in the ditch.

Just what I would expect from you, a good loyal compasionate American. You've shown yourself to be the kind of person that should be exiled to the darkest depths of hell. Congratulations.

Re: This forum is just so sad
If you can prove to me the necessity of +10 shot clips, for anything more than killing people I'll listen, BA. Problem is I see NO use for them, and other than to be just contrary, you know better too!
What happened in '08 was/has to the complete height of ridiculousness! The money the gun rights idiots spent on pure paranoia, really shows a weakness on their part, don't you think, REALLY? What a windfall for the gun manufactures! LOL!! When Obama wins again, how much more are you going to spend?

Re: This forum is just so sad
Being a first responder for a few decades now, I don't ask someone's political leanings, race, creed or national origin before I help. You had better hope it is someone like me that comes across you if you or one of your family winds up in a bad way - rather than someone like you seem to be. I really think you are all hot air and saying what you will just to sling insults.
Fact is both parties have moved to the side seemingly, but I think if DC listened to the people rather than their various special interests, they would find there is a lot more middle than you folks here seem to think.
If you are far to the right, even the middle left looks far off. If you are far to the left, even the middle right looks far off as well. Either way, those on both extremes are far, far from anyone with a sense of common decency.
A great deal of the divide lays not in the people of this great nation, but in their leaders and mostly in their own minds about the other side. We will never solve this problem until a time when we can finally decide to hold public financed elections and throw special interests of all types out the door. Until our political leaders owe us and work for us, they will continue to work for special extreme interests and represent them rather than us.
