This isn’t MacArthur at the Yalu, Kasserine Pass, Battle of Long Island grade stuff

just a messy withdrawal with a collapsing ally.

Even if the media is breathlessly treating it as such.

No US casualties thus far.

As compared to the above examples where poor leadership led to huge loss of life and strategic defeat.

Strictly at the mercy of the Taliban.

Just hide,  you can't make the stench of failure go away.

Not surprising that a lot of the cousin humpers think the Taliban is kinda groovy.

Does anyone think that 2500 troops were going to hold a perimeter after the Afghan Army flipped?

Said government that was cut out of talks between the Taliban and the Benedict Arnold administration.

Trashyfolk can be kinda stupid.

Cant recall who the old hand was who said the day of MacArthur’s return to DC was the only time he ever felt like a revolution could happen.

Even though he’d screwed up a fair bit of the Pacific War and just generaled the worst defeat ever suffered by the US in the field, they loved the idea of a strongman on a white horse.

Re: 28,000 evacuated since Aug. 14, that's 28,000 in a week.

Another couple of weeks ought to get most of them. The US has extended the perimeter around the airport, which means it'll easier for refugees to get to the airport.  I don't think the Taliban wants to confront US forces, that would just give Biden an excuse to return and punish them some more.

The media is pulling the same crap that got us in in the first place- all the breathless reporting about suffering, abuse of rights etc.

As before- sure- but what’s the plan?

Re: A little defensive there NQX?

A little defensive there NQX?  I understand your embarrassment with our dear leader NQX, and your trying to protect him and his worst American foreign policy blunder in decades - but you can't say you weren't warned about old senile joe's incompetence.
