Trickle down economics

is nothing more than a cruel fraud, says Robert Reich, and he's right! Will the GOP ever come to their senses?? I doubt it!

While we’re on the subject of trickle-down economics, I want to give you some more data because Republicans are saying they intend further cuts in taxes on capital gains and dividends. Remember George W. Bush predicting his tax cuts on capital gains and dividends would usher in an “ownership society”? The opposite happened. In 2000, one of every eight taxpayers had capital gains income. In 2012, i...t was one in fifteen. In 2000, Americans making over $2 million a year got 18 percent of the nation’s dividends; by 2012, they collected 38 percent – and their average annual dividends went from $246,000 to $1,169,600.

Trickle-down economics is a cruel fraud. It’s cruel because it hurts the middle class and poor who lose services or have to pay more taxes to make up for what the rich don’t pay. It’s a fraud because nothing trickles down.

Re: Trickle down economics

However you feel about the economy today, it is better than it was 7-12 years ago and going back 30 years ago we already know that only worked for the to 1%. They didn't create jobs then and they won't now and the only trickle will be if you pee down your leg!!

Re: Trickle down economics

Trickle down via the government is the biggest fraud.  The government takes money from working and investing people, it keeps most of it and gives a little back to a select few who keep them in power.

It's a shame you never change your mind or write any thoughts of your own.

Re: Trickle down economics

You mean buffet and romney et al didn't really only pay 13% of their money in taxes???? The various govts spend that money on services for you and everyone else. You don't want to give the govt anything but hell but you want all the services that you qualify for and don't want anyone to get the ones you don't qualify for.

If 10% is good enough for Jesus, it should be good enough for Uncle Sam.

Anyone trying to tax themselves into prosperity is like someone standing in a bucket and trying to raise themselves up by pulling up on the handle.

Re: Trickle down economics

Times are as tough now as they were back in the mid 70's  and far worse than the 30 years that followed. You may not be having a rough time but there are many that are.
