He was sent by the Federalists to bail Trump out so they could achieve their own agenda. And he did, faithfully- lyin' and crimin' up a storm for him, even supporting the Big Lie until he sagely assessed that it was a losing battle, and then he pivoted to attempting to save his own reputation- a matter still ongoing.
Say what you will about the 2000 election, there was a superb team of over 200 top lawyers ready to go and even though it required a Brooks Brothers Riot (thanks, Roger) to slow things down and get them in place, they ultimately triumphed.
