Re: Uniquely American way of death

Uniquely American because America is unique in it's demographics.

Over 50% divorce and it's a reality that married couples who stay married live longer.

Drug use admitted among over 24 million and probably more that don't seek help of admit their problem.

26.45 percent of people ages 18 or older reported that they engaged in binge drinking in the past month

72.3 percent of non-Hispanic blacks are now born out-of-wedlock; 66.2 percent of American Indians/Alaska Natives; 53.3 percent of Hispanics; 29.1 percent of non-Hispanic whites; and 17.2 percent of Asians/Pacific Islanders. That’s 40.7 percent overall: a disaster.  Kids raised in circumstances that do no lead to a long, healthy life.

lastly look at America by race and note how different it is from many countries such as Japan, China, Sweden, Finland etc.  Race plays a part in this because many of the people in different races have not embraced traditional American culture with regards to education and work, placing them out of the mainstream that would keep them healthy.

Re: Uniquely American way of death

What you are actually talking about Kurt is 'diversity'

And if you think that 1) the US is 'too diverse' and 2) this diversity is a problem then you are neglecting the fact that other countries are more diverse and still function quite well.

I suggest you are thinking that everyone needs to look, think, and act the same to function better and that is not shown to be true if you look round the world rather than cherry pick some countries that function well and are less diverse.

Why are these people you point to not in the mainstream?

Why is the 'mainstream ' not allowing those others to join it?

Would it be because the 'mainstream' discriminates and is bigoted ?

What people like you assert is diversity is actually division.  Living in Canada you should be most aware of that.

When my non English speaking ancestors came to America they learned to speak English.  They quit wearing the clothes of "the old country" and they embraced the ideals of America.  They didn't demand that America feed, clothe, house and educate them in their native language.  They didn't extol the virtues of  "the old country" or wave it's flag.

They worked, invested and prospered in spite of being called "micks" and "krauts".  We've had over ½ a century for the latest visitors to assimilate, they haven't chosen to do so and the Democratic party is hugely responsible.  The black population that was born here chooses to pretend that they have some sort of special heritage and bond with Africa while Africans immigrating here shun such connections.  One of my family travels back and forth to Nigeria and those real Africans are nothing like the blacks living here who refuse to partake of opportunity.

If you were going to assimilate when 'you' moved to America then you should be living in a teepee and speaking Navajo or maybe Cree.

Why do you assume everyone should speak your language and wear clothes like you?

Re: Uniquely American way of death

Why should you try to look and act like the majority of the population?

When my family member was in the Middle East she wore garb that was considered appropriate for women in that area, she didn't wear a tank top and shorts.

An area where they demand everyone look and think the same. Bow down to their god or they will persecute you.

Many countries are beyond the barbaric practices and more secure in their lives so do not demand everyone totally agree with some ordained way to live, look and act.

That's why they try to tear down the fences to get into this country instead of Canada. If this is such a terrible place you would think everyone would flee. Except your prince and princess fled your country to get here.
