Vietnam history

http://www.businessinsider.com/a-new-and-personal-narrative-of-who-lost-vietnam-2014-11

As the DoD and some right wing deadenders continue their efforts to revise the historical view of the war, this looks to be a worthwhile read.

Essentially the Ellsberg/Sheehan/Halberstam view of things from someone even closer to the inside of the whole schmoe.

You can't fight and win a counterinsurgency without a credible nationalist ally in place. And the post-colonial catholic tories who ran the south were thoroughly corrupt and could never been seen as legitimate by a majority.

Probably insert al Maliki and the Iraqi shiites interchangably.

No, the burden of service didn't fall more heavily on kids  from the working class. Nosiree, next thing you know you'll be making kids read Howard Zinn and get crazy ideas about what plain people really thought about things.

Which is bad for business here at USACorp.

McNamara and his bunch lost the war

Re: Vietnam history

McNamara was a tool no question. In light of that or not, would you take a few minutes and describe to us what your vision of a win would be or have been. Both in finalizing the conflict and long tee for Vietnam and her people. Would have been nicenot to have lost. Wondering what you think might have been different.

Re: Vietnam history

maybe you want to take a few moments and compare what you know about Ho Chi Minh to Barry Hussein, and come up with which was more of a threat to American mainstream values.

Papa Ho actually did some work in his life, you know.

THank God for free elections! Notice how I used the word "was".

Re: Vietnam history

As I recently noted about tone, it would appear that the boyz in the neo-nazi sleeper cells are getting very angry that their election victories haven't translated into everybody becoming stupid.

Re: Vietnam history

Just now had the opportunity to watch the Concert for Valor. Thought about you and your compadres here and the "tone" thing that nox has brought up recently. Transcends condescention. Only way to describe it. Brian always asks if minds can be changed. They can, but not when the mind fully understands that it is out of tune but simply, either by choice or conditioning, doesn't care. Can envision no consequences coming out of holding on.

They are a more patient lot than you think. They are holding out for February when Joni and Steve see to the shutting down of the public schools in Iowassippi.
