Re: What is wrong, insulting or outrageous

The laws were not in effect prior to this election. However the most prominent evidence were the thousand of floridians that were scratched of the voter registration rolls during the election of 2001.

During 2004 there were thousands unable to vote because of inadequate voting machines in urban areas. Willful attempts to deny the ballot to inner city folks. As are current voter ID laws.

So, I ask again, do you have a link, to a story or article, that shows someone who was legitamately able to vote, but who had that right to vote, denied?  If there numbers were 'thousand', surely there would be at least one story, of an actual occurance.

These inner city districts that had inadequate voting machines.  Were these in Republican, or Democrat controlled districts?

One can only hope that you are bieng intentionally obtuse, with all of the reams and files of documentatoin there is of the roles beingi purged in Florida in 2000.  Read don's linked article.  Greg Palast has made an exact, irrefutable science out of voter repression study.  Thanks, don. for putting it up.

And as for:

These inner city districts that had inadequate voting machines.  Were these in Republican, or Democrat controlled districts?

Who controlled or how any of those Districts leaned had nothing to do with it.  The voting aparatus was distributed by STATE election officials and in the most glaring cases that showed up in Ohio they had been put in place in the precincts by Ohio Sec. of State Ken Blackwell, who is/was a well know GOP activist and unashamedly agressive party climber.

I don't know how they do it in OH but here we store the voting machines in the court house. Each district have their own and maintain them. We no longer use the big old heavy mechanical machines, they are now eletronic.

Didn't they also allow one polling place to stay open longer because some voters there still had not voted?

Don, I agree that both parties are careful during calls for re-districting and changing voter ID laws so they risk losing as few  possible voters as possible.

Here is one thing that may have helped Florida decide to hire an outside company to help cleanse and update voter lists back in 1998.

Florida is the only state that pays a private company that promises to “cleanse” voter rolls. The state signed in 1998 a $4 million contract with DBT Online, since merged into ChoicePoint, of Atlanta. The creation of the scrub list, called the central voter file, was mandated by a 1998 state voter fraud law, which followed a tumultuous year that saw Miami’s mayor removed after voter fraud in the election, with dead people discovered to have cast ballots.

Bruce asked some good questions about the inadequate voting machines.  Who was responsible and how do they decide how many voting machines will be placed at each polling station?  I believe Florida had just gone to all new voting machines.  Could the new voting machines have helped caused some delays?

Same as here.  If the machines weren't working properly, that is the fault of the district that they belong to, which is why I asked the question.

If the machines are maintained by the Dems, and they fail, how is that the Repubs, causing them to have faulty machines????

A direct quote from the article:

The very article that Don linked to, admits that dead people voted.

However, when we read that same article, they say that errors 'suggest' that voters 'may' have been turned away at the poles.

So, on the one hand, there is undeniable proof that fraud took place, and on the other hand, a 'suggestion' that some 'may' have been turned away.  While I am not saying none have, what basis does anyone have, of how many people had actually been turned away?  I am still waiting for any kind of example, of even one person who is on record of making that claim.  All I get, are the same talking points, of the 'many', or the 'thousands' or even 'many thousands' (depending on who is making the claim), but no actual credible link to an actual voter, who should have been allowed to vote, yet was not.

Around here, the voting equipment, is maintained by the district is is used in.  If there is a failure of a machine due to improper maintanence/storage, it is the fault of the people in charge of that district.   I assumed most places were like that, if Florida does not do it that way, I retract that statement.  However, if each district is in charge of their own machines, would they not have at least a little bit of the responsibility on their shoulders?

Re: What is wrong, insulting or outrageous

1) who supplied/maintained the machines?
Those are who we should be upset with.  If it is the State officials, they need to get their act together.  If it was the individual districts, like here, the fault lies in the voting district.

2)  What was the deadline for voting?
Was that deadline past?

Again, who was in charge there?
