Re: When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

How is that defuding working out for ya up there in Murderapolis Karen?

Minneapolis has transformed into an inner-city warzone in six months, just like Baltimore and Detroit, with violent crime surging to levels not seen in decades after millions of dollars in police budget cuts.

Minneapolis, or as some say, "Murderapolis," has witnessed an explosion in homicides and carjacking this year as a severe shortage of police officers has resulted in dwindling patrols.

Minneapolis City Council members defunded the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) back in June, with council members on Monday planning to cut an additional $8 million in police funding and transfer it to other services, a move that could undermine public safety.

In November, more than 500 people were shot this year across the dangerous metro area, the most in 15 years, the local Star Tribune reported. Homicides have also erupted to levels not seen since the 1990s.

Source: Star Tribune

Minneapolis enjoyed years of falling crime rates, that all changed in May after the police killing of George Floyd, which triggered violent protests across the city and nationwide. Police data shows shootings and homicides jumped 64% this year compared with the four-year average. So far, 74 homicides have been recorded, the third-highest total in the city's history.

"The streak of violence since the summer stretched across the city, but as ever, Black and Latino neighborhoods have borne the brunt of the suffering.

The increase this year is mainly driven by an increase in the number of adult victims — especially Black men, who account for roughly 40% of all gunshot victims. But it's young people who continue to make up a disproportionate share of the victims, and some of the suspects. Through Oct. 13, the last date for which reliable data are available, the number of young gunshot victims was up about 44% compared with the four-year average. The city has also recorded 22 fatal shootings of victims under age 25, twice as many as all of last year." - Star Tribune

And while the pandemic has led to widespread job losses among the inner-city communities - the latest surge of violent crime, besides shootings and homicides, that is, violent carjackings has seen an unprecedented 537% surge in November over last year, the local Star Tribune pointed out in a separate report.

"The numbers are staggering," a Minneapolis police spokesperson told the paper. "It defies all civility and any shred of common human decency."

Police have blamed the latest wave in carjackings on "small groups of marauding teens" but said adults had been arrested as well for the car theft.

As violent crime spirals out of control across the metro, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Police Chief Medaria Arradondo have criticized City Council members for their move to defund police.

Frey called the latest plan by council members to defund the police "irresponsible and untenable," adding that he supports alternative forms of policing in inner-city communities. He said slashing the number of officers on the street would be disastrous for public safety.

Who could have seen that coming?

As usual, the rest of this post by Trudy was mostly fear mongering old information from the summer.

Defunding the police had to be something that  those in Minneapolis had TO VOTE TO DO.   It NEVER GOT ON THE BALLET for a vote.  Therefore, no defunding.   Everything you cited, was basically false.  Just more fear mongering - and for what?   To try and turn the people in Georgia to vote for the scum that used inside information to trade the stock market last Spring?

I spoke with a retire Minneapolis police officer a month or so ago.  His words - the department COULD use REORGANIZING.   There will NEVER be DEFUNDING of the police.   HIS WORDS.   FIRST HAND from an officer who had been on the force.   What you cult members are posting here is pure BS.   It was from the start.....but you made hay with a statement made by someone FROM THE DEMONSTRATIONS that was sick and tired of black men being killed for no reason by police.

Just try and find who coined the phase “defund the police”.   It came from people in ghe demonstrations - and you Cult members saw an opportunity to jump on it, and make a whole series of attack ads and fear mongering ads that worked, because people didn’t take the steps, to find the reality of the situation.   And you’re still doing it.  The stuff you guys are posting about this, is pure BS.  It has been since the beginning.

Trump lost.   And it was largely his own fault.  Get used to it.   Trump is a has been, that will go down in history as America’s worst president ever.   It will be a well deserved title for the bass tard that would’ve been a dictator.

Re: When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

Not what the Minneapolis city council said. They vote unanimously to defund the police. More numbers. Dems are mass killers.

Minneapolis cops will receive $500,000 to deal with a crime explosion in the months following the City Council’s “defund the police” rhetoric and attempts to implement a “transformative new model” of law enforcement.

The Government Oversight Committee eked out a 7-6 vote on the funding, which would allow Minneapolis cops to partner with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and Metro Transit Police to close out the year.

“I have 74 people who are no longer alive in this city because they’ve been killed,” Police Chief Medaria Arradondo told officials. “I’ve got almost 500 people who’ve been shot and wounded in this city. We can talk about re-imagining policing. I’m talking about what is necessary today, in this city, and we need extra resources.”

“Fox & Friends” noted a few of the grim statistics for the city; officials called for defunding police after the May death of George Floyd while in police custody.

Some of the numbers include:

  • Arson: 72 cases in 2019; 127 in 2020 (YTD) — increase 76%
    Assault: 2,114 cases in 2019; 2,616 in 2020 (YTD) — increase 24%
    Homicides: 39 cases in 2019; 73 in 2020 (YTD) — increase of 87%

“Utterly embarassing,” said “Fox & Friends” weekend co-host Pete Hegseth, a Minnesota native, Wednesday. “Utterly predictable. All you need is one brain cell to know that if you A) remove police, you’re going to create the space for crime, and then B) if you demoralize police by telling them they’re the bad guys, you’re going to create an environment where why in the world would they want to take one single risk?”

How a Pledge to Dismantle the Minneapolis Police Collapsed

When a majority of City Council members promised to “end policing as we know it” after George Floyd’s killing, they became a case study in how idealistic calls for structural change can falter.

MINNEAPOLIS — Over three months ago, a majority of the Minneapolis City Council pledged to defund the city’s police department, making a powerful statement that reverberated across the country. It shook up Capitol Hill and the presidential race, shocked residents, delighted activists and changed the trajectory of efforts to overhaul the police during a crucial window of tumult and political opportunity.

Now some council members would like a do-over.

Councilor Andrew Johnson, one of the nine members who supported the pledge in June, said in an interview that he meant the words “in spirit,” not by the letter. Another councilor, Phillipe Cunningham, said that the language in the pledge was “up for interpretation” and that even among council members soon after the promise was made, “it was very clear that most of us had interpreted that language differently.” Lisa Bender, the council president, paused for 16 seconds when asked if the council’s statement had led to uncertainty at a pivotal moment for the city.

“I think our pledge created confusion in the community and in our wards,” she said.

The regrets formalize a retreat that has quietly played out in Minneapolis in the months since George Floyd was killed by the police and the ensuing national uproar over the treatment of Black Americans by law enforcement and the country at large. After a summer that challenged society’s commitment to racial equality and raised the prospect of sweeping political change, a cool autumn reality is settling in.

National polls show decreasing support for Black Lives Matter since a sea change of good will in June. In Minneapolis, the most far-reaching policy efforts meant to address police violence have all but collapsed.

I'm sick of the BS you guys post here every day.   All lies.   And you have the gall, to hold yourselves up as men of God.   No wonder churches are being "defunded".   I no longer have any want to go to an organized place of religion.  You want to know what's destroying religion in this country?   You cult members are.   And you're doing a really good job of it.

Here's More Of the Article

In interviews this month, about two dozen elected officials, protesters and community leaders described how the City Council members’ pledge to “end policing as we know it” — a mantra to meet the city’s pain — became a case study in how quickly political winds can shift, and what happens when idealistic efforts at structural change meet the legislative process and public opposition.

The pledge is now no closer to becoming policy, with fewer vocal champions than ever. It has been rejected by the city’s mayor, a plurality of residents in recent public opinion polls, and an increasing number of community groups. Taking its place have been the types of incremental reforms that the city’s progressive politicians had denounced.

In the meantime, “defunding the police” has become a talking point for state and national Republicans looking to paint liberals as anti-law-enforcement.

It has been a thorn in the side of Joseph R. Biden Jr., the Democratic presidential nominee, even though he rejects the idea. And it has ignited a power struggle in Minneapolis that has, in some cases, pitted moderate against progressive, young against old, and white against Black.

Linea Palmisano, a relatively moderate City Council member who was one of three councilors who did not take the pledge, castigated her colleagues: They “have gotten used to these kinds of progressive purity tests,” she said.

In a sign of the intensity of the debate, multiple people on both sides who spoke to The New York Times described their opponents as having “blood on their hands.”

“What kind of violence are we going to experience over the next year?” said Miski Noor, an organizer with Black Visions Collective, a leading activist group in the city seeking to defund and abolish the police department. “When these decisions are made on a political level, they have human consequences.”

Though some activists said the pledge was to be taken literally — a commitment to working toward complete police abolition — elected officials said there was widespread disagreement about its meaning. Some believed that “defund the police” meant redirecting some money in the police budget to social programs. Others thought it was a vague endorsement of a police-free future.

“I think the initial announcement created a certain level of confusion from residents at a time when the city really needed that stability,” said Mayor Jacob Frey, who declined to support the pledge. “I also think that the declaration itself meant a lot of different things to a lot of different people — and that included a healthy share of activists that were anticipating abolition.”

STOP PUTTING OUT THE BS.   Nothing but a pack of liars, these cult members.

Oh no - it was the result of ONE RACIST REPUBLICAN COP, that decided to take matters into his own hands.

Hearing the man being killed, crying for his mommy, made an indelible impact across America.   And guess who was the so called president, that IS STILL inciting violence across this country?

Yeah, America is ready to say good riddance to the bass tard that would be our dictator.

Goid riddance.....Trump is a LOSER!!!
