While 20K new cases and several hundred more deaths are pretty horrible
there's a hint that the extreme social distancing measures are bending the curve down from an exponential trajectory.
But we certainly haven't hit near the peak and if Spain and Italy are any indication then there's no quick resolution even as the growth curve flattens.
BTW, here's something about why Germany has been able to hold the death rate down so well.

Look at the bright side, you won’t have to worry about your global warming anymore.

Well, at least the "but how are you going to pay for it?" question has been answered.
If you can afford to bail out the old economy you can afford a new one.

Re: While 20K new cases and several hundred more deaths are pretty horrible
Lots of tests don't change what's happening with the virus, it does change the statistics and it can mean that many of them are being identified earlier, meaning the denominator is larger relative to what some other countries are doing (testing anyone vs. more controlled tests, testing only if showing symptoms, or hardly testing at all). It could also be that their numerator is smaller because of the way they report their deaths -- I have read that various countries are inconsistent in the way deaths are being reported from covid19, for example, if a person has more than 1 cause of death, only the primary cause is perhaps reported, even if a primary heart failure patient had covid19. Don't know if this specifically applies to Germany, or to what other countries. Just a thought. Unless and until the statistics are gathered in a consistent manner, their comparison might be only marginally meaningful.

That’s about as helpful as BA and Trump trying to spin the daily news cycle during an extremely fluid situation.

Re: While 20K new cases and several hundred more deaths are pretty horrible
We were warned over a week ago that with the increased testing that Covid 19 cases will spike...what you think they were lying?
What we have to remember is some people have Coronavirus and they think it`s a regular flu or cold. Comparing us to other countries we have no idea how many tests they do or how reliable their tests are or if you flat out can`t believe them like in China`s case. Now that people are hyper aware and testing is going on we have to look at the new cases, when the new cases level off, then there`s a start of a end to it.

Suddenly per capita has no meaning. Not while the progressive try to throw the body bags on Trump's doorstep.

Nothing new, but interesting.
"This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively."

Understanding what's behind the statistics is much more helpful than most of the crap I've read here and in Marketing over the past week or so.

Trying to spin this in the hourly news cycle is the dumbest thing ever.
