Why are Democrats against one and in favor of the other?

If I want to get some cold medicine at the drug store I have to show my ID and sign for it.  Not for a narcotic but just a plain old cold medication to stop the sniffles.  Obviously not going to make any big supply of meth with one 12 tablet package of sudafed. And not much of chance of it being a threat to society.  It seems Democrats are all in favor of this.

Meanwhile they are against having people show an ID to vote.  And we know how dangerous voting in the wrong person can be, they can start unlawful wars or stop industry or wreck the economy yet Democrats seem to think that's not a problem. 

So let people vote and vote and vote to destroy the country but that's okay?

My son in law is a pharmacist and the sudafed is not on the shelf because there is too much stolen off the shelf. You may not be making meth but some folks are and they like to pick it up and walk out the door.

Just a few comments on the first paragraph because the rest is pretty much opinionated and/or flawed:

I believe that meth addicts have developed new methods called "shake and bake" or something similar where they can make a fair supply of meth from small amounts of cold pills containing pseudoephedrine or phenylpropanolamine - the decongestant in such medicines. They can use a simple one liter plastic bottle and some chemicals to make a batch any time - no lab needed. This is according to some colleagues/friends I have in law enforcement.

It's all part of the "war on drugs" that in this case began with the Comprehensive Methamphetamine Control Act of 1996 and later amendments to those regulations/law. 

I am not sure if you should blame just democrats and I am fairly sure you should blame meth heads, but let your bias take you where it will.

Apples to oranges? If i was a resident in Nebraska, I would oppose the pipeline as well. The big reason being the Ogalala AUQUIFER that is a huge underground water supply.

When  Cheney was dealing with the oil barons the negotiated a deal where oil companies could not be held responsible for the pollution of under ground water supplies.  Some folks in Kansas and other places have suffered such pollution of their ground water and they have no recourse aghainst thye polluters.

 Just why would any individual in the path of that pipeline give them access wioth no gain from the venure and thepossibility of harm? Yes I think government ought to serve the interests of individuals instead of the oil companies.

Blockading the strait of Hormuz is an act of war.

Add to that, this year we reached a new high in US oil exports. Why export it? Because oil is a world business. We can produce all we want, but unless the republicans and democrats are going create laws/regulations forbidding export of domestic oil, all we are doing is contributing to the world supply if we build the pipeline. I believe it is Canadian oil anyway - they just want us to refine it.

I guess some people don't know that almost all Middle East oil passes through the Straights.....billions of barrels more than will ever go through any pipeline. But then again...oil is a worldwide business.

You don't show ID to vote?  Some Democrats probably are against it but I would say, after reading the many posts you righties put up here, that a majority of rightwingers are against it because you don't want the gummermint messing with you.  You have to show your voter registration and sign your name next to the same in the voter book in every state I have ever voted in.

They could put the new pipe next to Keystone #1, and by-pass the aquafer, instead of adding to the 20,000+ miles already above the Ogalalla aquifer.

The original post hardly is worthy of a reply but the stupidity of it makes it deserved.    Surely it can't be that hard to torture a brain with thought and understand the process.  Drugs and voting - two different animals  - where's the link?  In the tiny brain.

For some paranoid reason the extremes righties on here create dastardly tales about the democrats to justify anything.  Hawken chimes in again with his totally right wing approach and says its benefits their party.  What rubbish - there is no proof of that.  It is the birth right of republicans to believe they should make the laws to advantage themselves.  At least they think it is their birth right or there is no purpose for their being.
