Re: Why are these two still employed???

Sessions will do anything to keep his job.  Nothing will surprise.  Desperate Grassley and Graham nudging from the sidelines.

And fwiw, there is a tremendous amount at stake.  For the GOP.  This is a last gasp, back against the wall deal.  Been expected.

McCabe was fired after a recommendation was made from the FBI office of personal responsibility.

You stated multiple times you wanted an investigation of the FBI and any wrong doings brought to light. Sessions fire McCabe on the recommendation of the OPR.

PeeWee

Gowdy distancing himself from the "nuthin' to see here, move along" House Intel shutdown.

He has, presumably, seen the Page FISA warrant and related material. Nunes has not, at least legally, as he's recused himself.

Re: there is your random black guy

See: nox’s entry below re: Gowdy. All you need to know.

The fact that 80% of the public hasn’t paid a minutes notice to the details beyond the political posturing means nothing here, even as that HAS worked for the GOP often.

Trump hasn’t had near enough time to appoint enough Judges ( errrr...convene tribunals) yet. Lousy timing, I guess.

Looking back to the Reich in the early days and The Night of the Long Knives, suspected dissidents within weren’t merely fired.  They were eliminated, as Putin is doing in the U.K. presently. And of course, no internet.

Re: Why are these two still employed???

Yep, stated there should be investigations, but of course any and all investigations that aren't directed at trump are performed by idiots, invalid, fascist affairs.

Re: there is your random black guy

Would that be the same Gowdy calling for another special prosecutor to look into abuses of the FISA court?

Re: Why are these two still employed???

There's obviously a reason why Peewee is distancing himself from that.

Nunes is already on so deep there's no turning back- in fact he needs Trump to protect him from obstruction charges.

Re: Why are these two still employed???

snip-

Republican Reps. Bob Goodlatte and Trey Gowdy are calling on Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to appoint a special counsel to review decisions made by the FBI over the past two years when the Bureau was obtaining surveillance warrants to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The request for an investigation appears to stem from allegations outlined in the memo authored by Rep. Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, earlier this year. The memo alleged that the FBI relied on information from a dossier written by former British spy Christopher Steele and paid for by Democratic groups when they sought a warrant to monitor Carter Page, one of Trump's foreign policy advisors, under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

"I think there's a very serious matter regarding conduct by the FBI," Goodlatte, the House Judiciary Committee chairman, told reporters Tuesday.

He and Gowdy insisted that only a special counsel has the necessary authority to conduct a full investigation, including the power to issue subpoenas, convene grand juries, and prosecute criminal acts.
