Re: For Nox, Bruce, and Shifty...

Call it what you like but here's how I read it

Government tips the table and pours the whole pot into the laps of landowners and grain farmers who it has supported generously for several generations=capitalism.

Everything else=socialism.

I'll immediately regret any openness an honesty displayed here but yes, I do have some bad feelings about de gummint bailing people out in the 80s, saying they weren't going to do that any more in the 90s but then doubling down when things got the littlest bit tough and then passing an ethanol bill with totally unrealistic volumes and timelines that almost ensures global grain shortages as far as the eye can see.

All of which I live with pretty well until the beneficiaries start beeyatching about de gummint.

Ethanol receives no subsidies. The mandate has been defeated in court. Ethanol only works as long as it is cheaper than gasoline.

The capacity didn't get built without the gummint providing the mandate.

Re: For Nox, Bruce, and Shifty...

You are talking here to a guy whose own people built the road to town that goes by his place and the rail lines and opened navigable waterways that hauled away their produce.  Who brought electricity to their own proerty, TVA and REC be damned (pun intended).  even now, provides his own law enforcemetn.

The need or desire for any sort of general effort stopped one day when he was scratching his #### and found a little fuzz on them  Since then, it;s been all "I did too build it!"

He has absolutely no idea of what you are saying.

The capacity was built because MTBE showed up in the ground water.
