Without an Electoral System....Think about it
the stellar minds that put together the American Republic....learned men with wisdom to see down the road quite a ways....tried to balance the conflicting rights and needs to create a lasting system.
One thing they did, and which has been dismantled by the progressives, was to have Senators elected by the state legislators, not by direct popular vote. When you look at the Bidens, the Klobachars, the Kamala Harris's, Al Frankens, etc. ….how many of these characters would have ever made it to the senate floor under such a system? The left could come up with a similar list of demagogues promoted by the right to very high office that would not have won a vote of their peers, but can bamboozle the voting public.
Moving on to the electoral college system, think about what would happen without it. A politician could just do the math, figure out the most populous states, and offer them a tax holiday or some other enticement and get nearly all their votes and get elected with just a few states actually supporting them. The genius of the electoral system is that you have to win a plurality of states, not just votes. It insulates the republic from demagogues, just like the original system of senate election did.
Thoughtful systems put into place by thoughtful people, and dismantled, or attempted to be taken apart by those less circumspect.
Like someone once said, it takes a skilled carpenter to build a house, but any (donkey) can knock one down.

Re: Without an Electoral System....Think about it
The 17th amendment was definitely the beginning of the end of the republic as it was designed. Greatly reduced the power of the state legislatures to counter the power in DC. States like Ohio that perpetually seem to have a senator from each party, who cancel each other out, are left basically without representation in the senate.

Re: Without an Electoral System....Think about it
If you don't like it then YOU co have the right to attempt to change the constitution, which seems to be the goal of
those who supported the oval office holder change maker of last administration. The best gun salesman and country
divider in our history!

Wrong room?
it is getting harder and harder to read your posts 289 and have any idea what you are talking about. Same with Bruces. Bart and Noxious are easy...you could just type in "we hate republicans" as a substitute for any of their posts or replies and they would still function the same.
I do believe that is a good public service to let liberal posts stand as an example of the type of critical thinking going on in that camp.
