Yo! BA...on that "corporatism" thing

that you were railing on about the other day in regard to AZ and how they were blackmailed into "going along" to save busines.

The horse is out of the barn because some of them are letting it out.  With views and attitudes having changed so meteorically in just the past short while some are evidently making an effort to verify that they aren't operating out of the old 20th Century.

Saw this for the first time yesterday morning and it put me up out of my chair:

Found that there are actually 3 of them:

Re: Yo! BA...on that "corporatism" thing

Hey Bruce, corporations weild more power than "buying off politicans that will lower their taxes and allow them to keep polluting the rivers and dirtying the air".  The main corp that threatened a boycott of Arizona was Apple computer...they were pretty safe in taking that stand, most reasonable people won`t punish the company by throwing their Apple in the recycle bin or go on E-Trade and dump their shares of Apple............................................................yet the Apple Corporation takes the money from millions of computer consumers, regardless of their stand on gay marriage and uses that clout to put a gun to the head of EVERY Arizona resident.  Everyone in Arizona would be punished with a corporate boycott of the state, even those that Apple Computer thought they were "helping".

This boycott business has a history, just not to the extent where corporations are writing the states` laws.

Something about California grapes were boycotted in the 50`s or 60`s because of Hugo Chavez and the migrant workers or some such crap Smiley Happy    But, Florida orange juice has been a target in my memory.  In the late 70`s when all I knew about homosexuals was they were weird and if I saw one he probably would "carry his books like a girl" that was when they hated Anita Bryant

http://www.theledger.com/article/20120302/NEWS/120309859

Then in the 90`s Florida orange juice was hit again because of Rush Limbaugh  http://www.nytimes.com/1994/07/05/us/teachers-endorse-a-boycott-over-juice-ads-on-limbaugh.html       But Rush turned the tables on `em and orange juice sales went up!  Smiley Happy

Recently the radical Black leadership threatened a Florida orange juice boycott because of "stand your ground"    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jul/18/martin-luther-king-iii-calls-boycott-florida-orang/

Now the Florida orange growers have nothing to do with homosexuals and Negros and stuff...but they are always the target.  The radicals never boycott Florida`s beaches..too much fun.  They attack the Florida orange growers, it`s the "low hanging fruit" pardon the pun.

All those "boycotts" of orange juice by radical kook groups never amounted to a popcorn fart.  But, when a corporation uses the clout of millions of their cu$tomer$ and $tockholder$ and writes laws for states, laws that have nothing to do with the building and selling of computers or whatever their product, we are on dangerous ground.

...and I don't need a seminar on a bunch of stuff that happened when you were in grade school that I was a witness to. And you total response is a highly presumptive, gross overstatement.

All that is going on in those ads is Kraft buying insurance on the currents of cultural change.  Making sure that some of their customers don't think that they are haters and cultural neandrathals and go back to Heilemann's Mayonaise after years of using Miracle Whip.

The message you got from the Miracle Whip ad...

...was that the company isn`t "haters"?   A woman uses mayo to make "deviled eggs" that she takes to a church potluck and that is suposed to be a commentary on "haters"?   I didn`t take that away from the ad at all, it is a cute ad with a play on `deviled eggs at a church potluck` nothing more.  Duncan-Hines could also do a ad about "taking Angel food cake to a Metallica concert" for the same effect.

Here`s a Orbit gum ad that equates "those using bad language with going to hell.
