Did you mean:

You righties worry too much...

You are probably going to continue to be dissapointed over changes in laws and changing mores regarding some social and cultural issues, but as for the basic structure of who wins and who loses in the economy and the business world, you face no genuine organized oppositoin.

Been wating to see someone put this into words for a good long time.  One could say since the initial innaugaration of Clinton:

Progressivism was near its birth coopted by the rich and powerful.  It is and has always been their tool.

Bruce, sometime you should take the time to post YOUR utopian views of government...what exactly it is that you would like to see accomplished that people cannot do on their own.

I don't know about Bruce, but this pretty much defines what I want government to do.

If a bank will not lend to an uncollateralized student. I want government to finance that education. Student loans via the governement without banks profiteering on the loans.

If insurance companies will not sell affordable healthinsurance to everyone at an affordable price. I want government to take over the health insurance business and kick the privates out. After all they have had decades to provide such service to all comers and they have chose to serve only the least risky.

Do i beleieve in capital ism, YOU BET. But anytime the industry fails to provide the basic needs of the community then they best get to hell out of the way and make room for the entity that will.

Just because a  business only wants to serve a segment of the community, that does not mean the rest of the public shouldn't be serve. Instead of subsidizing businesses we should be replacing them if only to change their attitude.

Of course this is just two examples, but it is the best interest of our national community to have a well educated public. It is also in our interest to have a healthy community with low cost health care system. That people can get care if they have million in their pocket or less.

If a farmer won't sell his produce so that every poor person can afford as much as he wants to eat you want the government to set the price low enough so he can?

Re: You righties worry too much...

I'd say that the fact half the dam country is on food stamps it fits dons definition of an industry that should be taken over. In fact I'll bet fewer people can afford a new car than health insurance. Heck I could use a new Volvo.

How about when the government is failing at the things it's supposed to do,like education which you feel is so important (I do too),  replacing it with private companies?   Bet you wouldn't go for that at all.
