NAFTA has impoverished Mexico just as it did America`s bluecollar workers.

another thing the progressives shoved down our throat

Re: Zapatistas and NAFTA, 20 yrs later

I am tired of eating "progressive" (socialist) $#!+ sandwiches, so is a sizable part of the rest of us. Maybe we can " hope " for another " change " of direction. I am still keeping my cartridge boxes handy, none-the-less. 😞

Nafta was a republican iniative signed into law by president clinton. All of these trade deals promise usmopen markets when they merely give corporate america access to cheap goods to import.

Remember when giving WTO favored trade status was supposed to open up vast mrkets in china for american farm products. For every ship load of grain going to communist china there must be a thousand shiploads coming to walmart.

Yeah krafty,  your Dem controlled Congress-Senate passed,  Clinton signed NAFTA has failed.    I don't like NAFTA,  GATT,  MFNTS,  Glass-Stegal repeal done under slick Willie at all.   But you'll vote for sHrillary.

With the Dim control of congress-senate,   the party in power schedules (or blocks scheduling) bills for a vote.   The Dims own NAFTA,  GATT,  MFNTS because they could have blocked the vote.     The Dim Party ceased to be "the party of the working man"  back after the 1968 national convention.    Dems are now the party of Wall St.,  Goldman-Sachs,  wallymart,  etc.

All of those things you mentioned were republican favored initatives? Look back at the congressional votes and you will find that they were not supported by democrats.

Re: Zapatistas and NAFTA, 20 yrs later

WTF????

"The Dim Party ceased to be "the party of the working man"  back after the 1968 national convention. "  ?????

Yupp...that's how they came to nominate George McGovern in 1972 and Walter Mondale got on the ticket in 1976. Jeezus.

Onthe other nahd, I'd wholeheartedly agree with you on the Democrats becoming a corporatist party and too many of it's leaders and Federal elected officials, most particulary our history's worst Democratic President, being complicent in NAFTA, if you'd have said 1992. But bone up on your political history a bit before exposing you ignorance of it again.

And BTW, in your case being a highly successful and wealthy by any comparisom grain farmer, NAFTA has been one of the horses on that team that has pulled your wagon since the mid 90s.  Pulled it right over the decaying millions of working people who have had the consuming power or their flattened income deflate catastrophically and brought them to having to  access the sea of private indebtedness that the repaeal of Glass-Stegal and the other horrors of finacialization have brought us in order to feed that team of yours.

Re: Zapatistas and NAFTA, 20 yrs later

The ONLY F'ING voices that were screaming to be heard when NAFTA was being propossed and rammed through were THE F"ING PROGRESSIVES!!!!

G## D###it!!!!  What is with you people and the mountain of political and economic ignorance that has permeated this site?  Are you a fair indicator of the level of that in the overall "conservative" movement?

Has the definition of every last poitical term been changed in your leixicon?

Re: Zapatistas and NAFTA, 20 yrs later

So with the Repubs in the minority in both House and Senate and the Dim majority COMPLETELY controlling which bills were brought up or a vote (or left to die),  just how did the Repubs get that NAFTA bill scheduled there krafty?   FACT is the Dims scheduled it.

And Slick Willie could have vetoed it,  end of NAFTA.

Thus the Dims are 100% responsible for the existence of NAFTA.    They could have left NAFTA for dead.  But the Dim Party,  the party of Wall St.  SCHEDULED it for a vote,  twisted enough Dim arms to get a majority to vote for it.   and there was no gun held on Clinton to sign  it.

No more "party fo the working man".

Bruce, these master race people cannot ever admit that they are the cause of anything bad just like they can never admit that in any given situation, they might actually be wrong. They are all genetically modified by nature to block any attempt to actually admit to either of those conditions. Other than that, they are just plain ol' asssholes!
