Library? You mean socalist bookstore?

If Republicans want a book, we go to Barnes and Noble and.....grasp ...pull out our wallet and actually...gasp...buy a book. So called libraries are for old goats reading newspapers bolted to a 2x4 and pervs downloading porn.

Re: Library? You mean socalist bookstore?

BA, I'm not going to post what I want to say in reply to that because I feel like you probably are only thinking about this in a narrow point of view and posted without thinking. My wife writes for a living. She is constantly going to the library to get books, many of which come in from other libraries on a interlibrary loan system where the library gets what you need, and they don't have, from another library. I'd say 98% of the books she needs for research can not be bought from book stores because they are old books or they are simply something that no bookstore would be able to sell. If I bought all the books she needed for research, I'd be forking out half my salary. Most people going to school are in the same situation. It's just a lot easier to get what you want from a library. That's just one example.

Most people in libraries are young people and children, not old goats reading newspapers and most libraries have filters installed on their computers to prevent things like downloading porn - correction, probably all of them have those type of sites blocked.

A lot of other people use libraries too. They have books, books on tape, videos (DVDs), music CDs and a lot more. There's nothing wrong with that and one thing you may not know is that libraries support the publishing industry and the authors who wrote the books by buying those books. Many publishing businesses and writers would lose a lot of money if it were not for libraries.

Here's you a more "down home" example too. Say a nice young man in your community got cancer and wanted to know more about it and find out more than the doctors would tell him at the office. He could go to the internet and read about things on web md sites, but those are pretty short on information. He probably couldn't find many good books on the subject at the bookstore. He could however go to the library and get the very books doctors might use to inform themselves on the subject of cancer.

So, if the republicans want, they can use the bookstore for all their needs, but I am willing to bet that many of them go to the library too. It's not a political place. It's a library.

Knapper, it's futile to even attempt to reason with BA. He probably thinks that the Dewey Decimal System is some secret plot by Karl Marx to take over our government and brainwash our kids.

His posts show how much time he has spent inside of a library, and I feel that they would be far more interesting if he would visit a library more often. Coincidentally and ironically, dictionaries are located in libraries too.

  What's a socalist?????

Hey Knapper, I was making a tongue in cheek reply to Kraft-D`s remark about W never have been in a library. I ofcourse agree with what you said. Our public library have programs getting kids into reading, something no one can agrue with. I definitely agree, there are orginal historical books that may be the only copy available at any price. Support your local socialist bookstore, people!!  Smiley Happy

It should have been built on the 58th, and that's where the war criminal belongs, Alcatraz!

Tom,   I don't know how much BA uses what he calls socialist libraries but I can bet he know all the ins and outs  of the farm subsides provided at the Socialist  FSA  offices.   (grin)

LOL, yeah, his truck probably can steer it's way there by itself.

You can bet he has the number to that office on speed-dial too. You think that he has his own coffee cup there also????
