a voting compromise
that the GQP would never accept because they'd fear it would undermine their actual objectives of suppressing turnout.
Ballots mailed to all voters who request them, no less than 1 month prior to election day.
Stations are open at least 12 hours a day for 3 weeks prior, to accept completed ballots, check ID and signature match- to be marked yes or no, with right of appeal to cure.*
Same day voters get the same paper ballots and those are hand counted. Hand counting of all ballots can begin the morning of the election.
No results are released until the count is complete and the supervising official gives the go. Counters are sequestered.
All counted ballots are held under seal until the election is certified and the presiding judge signs off on destroying them, no sooner than 1 month following or until all challenges are complete.
*with the exception of true absentee ballots where the voter certifies that they will be unable to vote in person. They must provide photo copy of ID and affidavit with application.

Re: a voting compromise
No results released until all polling places are closed and absolute deadline is election day.

Re: a voting compromise
Sure.
And since there would be very few mailed ballots, that would not be a problem.
BTW, in the vain hope of cutting off an urban legend, late arriving (except for military and overseas, which always get a grace period) ballots had 0 impact on the outcome anywhere.
That was just part of the predetermined plan to claim election fraud.
Like ‘16, whether the world’s worst winner/loser won or lost.

Re: a voting compromise
Just to remind you- the Postmaster General sabotaged the USPS expressly to that end.

Fully agree....and hopefully
..... not knowing exactly where you stand on the entire comprehensive matter of this current election.... everyone by now should be aware that precisely what you propose was suggested as a matter of legislative business to GQP Majority State legislatures and courts and was rejected.
Let them come in. Pile ‘em up, count the votes you want to first and then bring them down off the shelf and call them part of an overnight dump. When many of them had been there for days. Some weeks.
Well crafted, effective as a propaganda move but easier to sort than a stack of children’s play cups by a court.
Dennison wins those states and it becomes a tool for further suppression moves down the line.
So in the end.....Lucky stars? Divine Providence’s? Really, really horseshlt Candidate? Who knows.

Re: Fully agree....and hopefully
I was assuming he meant absolute deadline for receiving ballots, which is OK in the scenario I presented. Part of the compromise if anyone really cared except for the scam built into this one.
But nothing whatsoever released until everything is received and counted.
Tricky part is the dribble of military and overseas ballots. So don't release unless after everything else is counted there's a margin that is greater than the number of those outstanding- which is a known quantity.
That would be for Federal elections. I'm not going to hold it up for dogcatcher.

Re: Fully agree....and hopefully
I do mean the absolute deadline is for receiving ballots. The nominees are known far enough ahead of election day that shouldn't be a problem even if over seas or military. I have always felt results for Presidential elections should be held until the whole nation has voted. Agree on local and state, let them report when polls are closed locally. I don't have an agenda, I am neither Republican or Democrat. I have always accepted the results of elections and I would guess I always will.

Re: Fully agree....and hopefully
I'd probably give a week for military/overseas because somebody would have a patriotic cow over it, but sure, I really don't care.
Experts say there are too many potential vulnerabilities for online voting but I think you could probably figure out an acceptable method for the pretty small overseas military component of that.
And sure, just make sure the overseas voters get their ballots plenty early. My daughter received hers electronically, but due to some turmoil she barely got it in in time via DHL.
The overseas component is most all Democrats anyway.

Re: Fully agree....and hopefully
BTW, I think a national adoption of the system I describe would mean it would be decades before another GQPer is elected POTUS.
So I'm not holding my breath- just pointing out there are ways to address the "objections."
