The trouble with mask is they give a false sense of security. The best prevention is washing your hands and not touching your face.

That is the best prevention.  Using your natural immune system and decreasing exposure.

But masks can actually increase the likelihood of spread of infectious agents.  

Increasing resistance to breathing knowingly causing hypercapnea, hypoxia and potentially inducing pulmonary edema in the face of an infectious agent is ignorant.

And there's zero evidence they are effective.
