BTW, the Indy 500 became a certifiable joke when it banned the turbine- whether that was going to be the next big thing or not. The charade that it was "the proving ground of automobile technology" was revealed as BS. It is a bread and circuses spectacle with the occasional gladiator getting killed to add to the fun.
While there's a profound love for the internal combustion engine (particularly among the older set) it is a pretty awful machine- mostly just pours energy and waste heat out the radiator and tailpipe and is limited to 28% efficiency at optimum.
Before anyone freaks, ICs are going to be with us for quite some time, particularly in applications like agriculture and construction.
