drainin' that swamp

as per 60 Minutes Fake News this evening. Tom Marino, R-PA, nominated to be Trump's Drug Czar, co-sponsored a bill to hamstring DEA from stopping opioid shipments to pill mills.

There's really not without precedent for moral terpitude. Asa Hutchison was US Attorney for Western AR* when the Reagan Administration was running cocaine into Mena to fund the Contras. Somebody killed all of the local, state and fed investigations into that. He became GWB's Drug Czar and is now a congressman.

*WJC was Gov. of AR at the time and quite likely got warned off- and wisely did so in his own self interest. But that was a Fed operation, not state, and falls at the feet of St. Ronald of Hollywood, although that may not matter much in the modern GOP. Bit of a RINO, really.

Co-sponsor of the bill was Marsha Blackburn who just kicked off her campaign for Corker's senate seat claiming, among her grand accomplishments, that she stopped the sale of baby parts. The citizens of that opiate blighted state might agree.

I'd been hoping

for Rush Limbaugh but it would be quite a pay cut.

Good Mormon Orrin Hatch was the key to moving it quietly through the Senate. He too $177K from the pharmaceutical distributors association.

I think we really have to consider turning most of the drug dealers from prison if we won't put the ones in suits and lab coats in.

Citizen's United

of course the pharma lobby is just exercising its right of free speech as a citizen.

Since I've already cast aspersions on the moral character of a Good Mormon and an evangelical, I'll ponder whether Justice Roberts has consulted over the matter with the priest in a box.

Just the price of freedom, I guess.

I always cast suspicion on decisions made by anyone who believes in magical beings.

Much better to follow people who use evidence based decision making

Re: Citizen's United

I have my doubts as to whether many of these actors really believe in anything- it is just necessary to pretend because many of the voters do.

So you are saying that anyone whom believes in God, or a God, or a "magical being"; cannot make a decision based on evidence?

You can't trust your own leader?

“It came at exactly the right time. Trusting in God’s plan. For someone as rational and scientific and logical and rigorous as I am, to accept the unknowable and to re-anchor myself in faith was really, really important to me.”

“Since that moment, I still consider myself and have re-found myself of a deep faith and belief in God.” - Justin Trudeau
