greenwald
That is because the dominant strain of American liberalism is not economic socialism but political authoritarianism. Liberals now want to use the force of corporate power to silence those with different ideologies. They are eager for tech monopolies not just to ban accounts they dislike but to remove entire platforms from the internet. They want to imprison people they believe helped their party lose elections, such as Julian Assange, even if it means creating precedents to criminalize journalism.

Re: greenwald
You've never responded in regard to why Glenn never uttered a peep as Dennison/Barr rolled back all the Obama era curbs on surveillance.

Re: greenwald
nutz, still trying to outdo your 1984 orwellian twist on things with virtually every post, eh?
So in the 1984 version of Barry, Barry is a festering personal rights guy, and NOT the guy institutionalizing the three letter surveillance agencies to spy on the sitting POTUS?

There were in fact some modest- and in my view insufficient- reforms.
Sorry that having a black feller made you feel so bad about yourself and you Just Know otherwise.

Re: greenwald
He and the others got a pretty substantial break by not being executed. Almost nowhere else on earth at that point in time would they not have been for the crimes they confessed to or were convicted of. In fact, in many of those places would have been summarily. That they weren’t here is actually something for us to be proud of.
There is a paradox on the horizon. The incoming President and Vice- President are deeply opposed to the death penalty. I’d expect that once the trials are held, the evidence revealed and the convictions start coming in that there will be some who a person might not have expected to be calling for that form of punishment for what have always, and correctly, been classified as Capital crimes.
I’m not pulling for “the other side” here, but as a person who loves his country I sincerely hope and pray that Congresswoman Sherill’s concerns are unfounded. The rectification of them, if true, might be more than the Nation’s collective psyche can take.

Re: greenwald
She is a very credible person.
I’d take her word over 150 some odd GQPs.
But we’ll see.

Re: greenwald
The photo she posted is from 2019. Just another lying hypocrat. Should be removed from congress for trying to incite violence. Hypocrats will put her on a powerful committee used to censor conservative view points. She is their new hero.
