if you happened to be perusing the NASS site

looking for other reports, you might have come upon this.

https://www.nass.usda.gov/Newsroom/Notices/2019/07-01-2019.php

Some 40% of the bee colonies said to have succumbed this year.

If you're not seeing this like the shutdown of a pentagon study on climate change then you're not near cynical enough.

The war against communism is being fought on all fronts.

Not sure where you got the "40%", but this NASS report doesn't say that at all.

Have a sister and brother in law who own and operate a small family orchard. They have several bee hives. He says most of the ones that die do so because mice get in them in the winter time.
