interesting poll results

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/interactive/2013/03/04/fox-news-poll-majority-supports-use-drones/ Check out towards the end where they ask about killing citizens on us soil. Note how R's and D's are close till they add the word president. Poor showing in general as nearly half are OK with it, but R's really only mind if its under Obama's authority.

Re: interesting poll results

it really does illustrate that for the most part the only difference in people of different stripes is the political party they ascribe too. holding to the constitution isn't it. its like being a Mets or Yankees fan, just teams, they don't really stand for anything different.

Re: interesting poll results

Hey Sam, the thing with drones is, the genie is out of the bottle and if that`s the future of warfare the United States has to be on the cutting edge or someone will, the Chinese, Soviets, SPECTRE, Lil Kim and Dennis Rodman.  I see no reason that we should be using drones militarily anywhere at this point, however I don`t think the wars going on right now are nesessary.  I sure don`t think that drones should be used killing US citizens, especially on US soil, a citizen has a right to a trial. But it`s a can of worms, drones will be used against patriots on US soil one day, to the cheers from the liberals.  They think that anyone that wants to means test social security should be rubbed out by a drone, funny thing is many liberals are coming to that conclusion...my oh my, who to use this drone on, who to use this drone on?

Re: interesting poll results

the word "patriot" must be one of those dog whistle code words that can get you on a list, BA. Just heard the very liberal WCCO radio station talking about how the feds have over 1000 "patriot" groups under observation right now...the most ever and that civil rights organization leaders( whoever that is) are "concerned".

Any idea what all of this is supposed to mean?

Re: interesting poll results

with regards to drones being used as an assassination tool in foreign lands, its a terror tool plain and simple. our military is like our debt, completely unsustainable and like our debt when it all comes down there will be a serious amount of payback coming our way. as far as drones used on our own people, the poll says the R's like the idea at about the same rate as the D's.

Re: interesting poll results

Good analogy about the debt and the pax Americana as being twin pillars of what ails America.

Ron Paul was the gold standard on addressing both of these. People want to live in the land of De Nile.

Romney was light on addressing the downsizing of America, but given the parameters of who he had to

try to appeal to get elected in the climate that American electorate is in, he did a fair job by at least

mentioning that the time for our presence in the Middle East had changed with our new found energy

supplies.

Obama is the status quo guy on both debt and Pax Americana...I don't think he can make a move without

getting "Mr. Big", whoever that is, to tell him "go".

Re: interesting poll results

Over half a century of dealing with disingenious people now and then has taught me that the worst sort of dishonest intellectual bully is the person who asks a question that that perfectly well know the answer to in order to see not if the queried could supply them with information, but rather to see how they answered in order to attempt to pin something to them.  To be able to then say "But you said....."

You know damned good and well what the news report was referring to, and damned good and well if you listen to WCCO with any frequesncy at all that it's broadcast talk hours staff has taken a hard turn to the  right of center since Shelby left.

The ACLU, much as has the SPLC, has been tracking those groups for decades and has released a report on their growth and the proliferation of more of them.  That's what the news report was about.  The term that you refer to is self-attributed.  Not something selected for use by the reporters OR the ACLU.

Bruce and red

I went looking for what the dreaded patriots might be defined as by the splc:

“In the last year and a half, militias and the larger antigovernment ‘Patriot’ movement have exploded, accompanied by the rapid expansion of other sectors of the radical right. … [T]he so-called Patriots [are] people who generally believe that the federal government is an evil entity that is engaged in a secret conspiracy to impose martial law, herd those who resist into concentration camps, and force the United States into a socialistic ‘New World Order.’”

Re: Bruce and red

Thanks.  And in regard to your discussion with Faust yesterday about posts getting buried, the one you put up a few minutes ago just suffered that fate.  Didn't come to the top.

Re: interesting poll results

Bruce, I don't listen to WCCO, but was plowing snow, and the plow truck was tuned in, I think it had been tuned in to a Timberwolves game. The term used was "patriot groups" and over 1000, and civil rights leaders. I honestly have never heard that term used before and had no idea that there was tracking going on.

What if the term was "lutheran agnostic groups" instead? or something else. Just saying that there really seems to be something going on in America right now, and guns are flying off the shelves, and you cannot buy ammunition. And then you read about HS buying enough bullets to kill everyone several times over.  Doesn't this alarm you?

If you have a link to the report, please put it up so I can read about it. I really don't know what to believe anymore.
