Since you ask, no, I don't have a problem with the mainstream historical view of the Holocaust. I've actually been to Auschwitz and have touched the gallows where the commandant was hung following his conviction at Nuremburg. Such an inadequate instrument of justice.
But my view of Israel began to evolve fairly quickly following the publication of Meershiemer and Walt's book "The Israel Lobby."
It is a very straightforward academic work detailing the extraordinary influnce of Israel on US foreign policy. Really nothing new there, the interesting thing was that nobody in the US would touch it- the original article had to be published by the Times of London.
Immediately following the book's publication, the full court press went on to label the authors as anti-semites, holocaust deniers etc. and it faded away quickly- actually never even made much of a ripple in the US, then died.
My view is this- if I am an anti-semite for speaking critically about the influence of another soverign nation on the conduct of my nation, then so be it. Let's let our hair down and have at it.
