is everything dems used to campaign on
Out the door now? Its like all their positions now are just to oppose where trump is. For so many reasons you'd think they'd be with him on trade. Remember Hillary even had to flop her position on the tpp?

Yeah Sam, Liberals suddenly being such China fans, it`s a chicken & egg thing...Do Libs break out the KY for China because Trump is against China or is it because they were frauds all along? I actually think it`s because they were frauds all along and paid lip service for the sake of union members and the "Boo hoo hoo poor children" crowd.
But when the chips are down Libs are China fans. ... well China is communist, China is anti-Christian, the elites get cheap labor for their factories and the Goober type Libs get a nickel more for their soybeans, the "poooor chiiiildren" be damned.

Re: is everything dems used to campaign on
Ahem. TPP was primarily a geopolitical tool against China.
Bernie pushed Hillary into that position.
But TPP plus leadership of a unified front against China's intellectual property practices might have met with some limited success, and some influence on their internal conduct.
The present reality TV non-strategy has no chance.
And that would have greatly reduced their potential for targeted sanctions against US ag.
The emerging consensus might rightly conclude that "agriculture" is too stupid to deserve the continuance of the lavish social safety net that it has long enjoyed.

Re: is everything dems used to campaign on
The only true sensical thing for the (what’s left of) greater proprietary ag producer demographic to do in this political season is to rally behind the only true believer in capitalism and conservative economic policies in the race.
Of course that candidate being handicapped by a vagina and a background in ground level education....and of course party affiliation and.....Judges.

https://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/elizabeth-warren-trade-tpp-225214
Sen. Elizabeth Warren is asking progressive activists to join her in fighting the Trans-Pacific Partnership throughout the summer and fall, releasing a five-minute video Thursday blasting the pact as part of a "rigged system" that benefits corporations over American workers.
"We're going to need your voices now more than ever," Warren (D-Mass.) says at the end of the video, which was released by CREDO, a liberal activist group that is fighting the TPP and worked against trade promotion authority legislation last year. The Massachusetts senator said she was counting on the organization's members "to help [her] fight to stop the TPP over the next few months."
Warren, who has been floated as a potential vice presidential pick for Democrat Hillary Clinton, highlights the Investor-State Dispute Settlement clause of the trade deal in the video, calling it a key provision that benefits big business while weakening public safety regulations.
"It'll be open season on laws that make people safer but cut into corporate profits," she says.
Warren notes that because of fast track, Congress will have to vote TPP "straight up or down — no amendments, no chance to strip out things like ISDS," which is why she says she's reaching out to activists for help.
"America shouldn't be signing lousy trade deals, period," she says.

Current President did what Warren called for, yet progs don`t give him credit.

Re: is everything dems used to campaign on
I voted for Ross Perot twice (in case someone`s been under a rock) and I agreed with Democrats like Dick Gephardt and a few others...there were still a few good Democrats 20 years ago. Now the damned fools would jump in a manure pit if Donald Trump told them not to.
