looking for a certain type of inflation data

I need to find data, perhaps in a spreadsheet format or dbf format, though I could OCR it from another source probably.

The data I want is the total inflation for each year from say 1950 to 2020 or 1960 to 2021.

It would look something such as;

YEAR AMOUNT INFLATION 2021 AMOUNT
1987 1 140.8 2.41
1988 1 131.2 2.31

and so on.

I don't want to use an online inflation calculator for all those years.  I know the data exists and in a format that is usable, I just can't find it.

Any help from anybody would be appreciated.

I don't want to use online inflation calculators

Pick your format, download it, and calculate it yourself.  If you don't trust your math, run a "calculator" and check your work.

Not to denigrate anyone in the least, but inflation is the secret sauce in Millionaire Next Door type of wealth.

Not that it doesn’t require discipline over the long term of it but basically acquire business assets or investment property, cash flow it and let inflation do its work.

Few small fortunes come primarily from saving retained earnings.

There’s nothing unvirtuous about that- it is just how it works.

But saying anything that might offend someone’s Up By My Own Bootstraps personal myth causes head explosions.

Although general slightly below someone suggesting that you’ve had certain opportunities that many minorities did not, on the head explosion scale.

Re: Annual inflation, CPI

That doesn't appear to be anything different than I've found.  It's only the inflation rate for a given year, I'm trying to locate the inflation that occurs for the period from a year to this year.

You'll notice that my posted example was for 1987 which cumulatively was 141.8%, whereas the spreadsheet shows only that the inflation rate in 1987 was 3.66456321751691%.

Thank you for the attempt.

I hope I've made this clearer.

I'm making the assumption that minorities refers to African Americans, that 13%.

the poverty rate for naturalized blacks is 11.8% compared to 25.1% for native born blacks, suggesting race alone does not explain income disparity.

Re: Annual inflation, CPI

Let's give it one more try.

The inflation rate for a given year might be 3%.

But what I want is the inflation for a given year to 2021.

I gave an example and will try again.

In 1987 the inflation rate was 3+% but in the intervening years inflation was both higher and lower.  So you can't say a dollar in 1987 was equal to a dollar and 3 cents today.

I'm trying to convert 1987 dollars into 2021 dollars.  That means today you'd have to have $2.41 to buy something that cost $1 in 1987.  Somewhere there is a spreadsheet that has those numbers.  When you go to https://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm and input an amount for 1987 it will tell you how much it would take today to equal that $1.  Those numbers are I want.  I can then put in a payment from 1987 and have it converted to 2021 dollars.  That gives a clearer picture of costs.

I do not want just the inflation rate for that year.

I hope that's clear.

Have you looked to see if there is any contact information at The American Enterprise Institute or The Cato Institute.

Or possibly Sen. Paul or Congressman Gomert’s office.
