more lemonaide

The china flu has led to some interesting development that really will help people in the future.  That is skills in food production.  The fear around getting food has lead to an explosion in gardening and home long term storage.

Canning supplies are very hard to find right now.   If you want a freezer, order now and you'll get it in October.   Our local custom meat processors earliest appointments are in 2022.  Glad I know how to do it myself, and have the tools.

This is a very good thing, should the democrats take over people will need to be able to feed themselves.   In Cuba a significant portion of people's intake is home grown.   Of course democrats might well seize your production the way Stalin did in Ukraine, so maybe some skills in hiding food is also  in order.

I seem to recall "executive orders" that are on the books from the good old days when we only had Muslims to fear, where the government could take garden production and such in an emergency..."well shazam, it`s a emergency!  gimmee gimmeee gimmeee!" .    Those all wringing their hands about "Constitutional crisis", the minute there`s a crisis real or made up, they`ll just suspend the Constitution and that`s when everyone will have to decide if that will be the hill to die on.

With home butchering, that can work in the fall and winter when Mother Nature is your "cooler".   But we have to go back to Oregon trail days before freezers when you had to salt meat to preserve it.

Which brings us to...

In American history, salt has been a major factor in outcomes of wars. In the Revolutionary War, the British used Loyalists to intercept Revolutionaries' salt shipments and interfere with their ability to preserve food.[1] During the War of 1812, salt brine was used to pay soldiers in the field, as the government was too poor to pay them with money.[11] Before Lewis and Clark set out for the Louisiana TerritoryPresident Jefferson in his address to Congress mentioned a mountain of salt, 180 miles long and 45 wide, supposed to lie near the Missouri River, which would have been of inconceivable value, as a reason for their expedition.[12]

Pickling /canning salt is in short supply.

Impossible to believe that you are trying to politicize this or act in your best obtuse manner that it is suddenly new news.

The area around here and in urban neighborhoods is full of boulevards and medians and in many, many properties all areas of the yard that gets sunlight full of home gardens. Horrible liberal people who you goons would be certain wouldn’t know which end of a spade to hold or that milk and meat and tomatoes don’t come from a factory.

Preferred garden seeds were tough to come by around here in late March. We know people who travelled to relatively distant rural stores and centers to get what they wanted as there apparently wasn’t any rush or surge in demand there.

Re: more lemonaide

And that is somehow something that can’t be seen as a good thing, but rather fodder for politicization?

We’ve gardened, canned and preserved in our families for 180 years in this country, and everybody that I’ve been able to track voted and supported Republicans from the mid 1800’s through 1928. Had no idea that we were supposed to quit the first time somebody voted for a Democrat.

Re: more lemonaide

Yes as I pointed out it is a good thing the shortages people have experienced has encouraged people to get out and acquire new skills that will serve them well under the system democrats would like to install.

along that topic

Disregarding the sound economics' teachings about capitalism and socialism and giving in to the ideas propagated by Neo-Marxism would ultimately lead to the destruction of the very foundations upon which the material well-being of billions of people on this globe rests. It would result in great misery, even starvation and violent conflicts. It is therefore high time to boldly expose the errors and confusions of interventionist-collectivist and socialist-Marxist ideology and courageously call for reestablishing pure capitalism.
