nc state

So apparently their downfall was a couple players that were unvaxed that were still being tested.  The vax'ed players were not being tested.  When the 2 tested positive, they tested more of the team and several vax'ed tested positive.

Without indexing they can't say whether the vax'ed or unvaxed was the origin.

Most infections show no symptoms.

https://stm.sciencemag.org/content/early/2021/06/21/scitranslmed.abh3826

These data indicate that there were 4.8 undiagnosed SARS-CoV-2 infections for every diagnosed case of COVID-19, and an estimated 16.8 million infections were undiagnosed by mid-July 2020 in the United States.

Re: Vaccinated? That's not what ....

That's not what this article said, https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sports/nc-state-baseball-college-world-series-forfeit-covid-19-202....  This article, and other information, said, as per the rules, all unvaccinated players must undergo testing two days before arriving, and at intervals.  N C State could only field a minimum of 14 players because other players already tested positive. Of the 14, half (7) were vaccinated, 7 not.  When the two unvaccinated players tested positive, the whole team was retested, & two more players tested positive.  Due to medical confidentiality, they couldn't say which of the other players, vaccinated or unvaccinated tested positive.  It's just as likely (more likely actually) that two of the remaining five unvaccinated players tested positive.

The tragedy is the NC State coach was the only coach who didn't require his players to be vaccinated, himself included.

He asked for it and he got it.  They're talking about firing him now.

yes vaccinated...

In the online statement, Corrigan confirmed that several N.C. State baseball players had tested positive for COVID-19, including some who had been vaccinated.

Re: "Most infections show no symptoms", that's not ...

"Most infections show no symptoms", that's not what the article says.  The article says  "undiagnosed cases".  All the samples were taken during the period between May 10 & July 31.  That was during the period before testing became widely available, so you can't extrapolate to later periods when testing was widely available and routine.

I can tell you, that by mid-August here, you couldn't move without getting tested so you can't really compare what happened early on to later months.  All it tells you is that early on, many cases went undiagnosed.

Not only that but the authors themselves were careful to say,  "Our study has several limitations. First, although extensive statistical adjustments were made, our study cohort is based on a non-random volunteer sample which can have selection bias."

They started with 124,000 volunteers, out of the 11,000 samples they end up using data from 8,000.  That's not random anymore.

So what's your point, that's it's just "a little flu"?  Tell that to the Brazilians and Indians.

Re: So Sam, what's your point, that ....

So Sam, what's your point, that vaccinated people can still get infected?  We know that already, that's why I still wear my mask out in public.  Here, unvaccinated people are supposed to wear a mask but I don't trust them, with good reason.

Not only that but as the Delta variant becomes more prevalent infections & deaths will increase because the vaccines are less effective.

That's why we will continue to see a low-level infection rate and deaths.

Re: And you believe Corrigan?

"Corrigan claims vaccinated players infected."  And you believe Corrigan?  This is exactly the situation where you might want to question Corrigan's motives.  He and Aventi, the coach, are the ones primarily responsible for this fiasco.  Aventi wouldn't confirm his vaccination status when asked directly.  They both have reasons to dissemble, their jobs are on the line.

Yeah, we know TrickyDick, everyone in the world lies except Jesse Smollett and Bubba Wallace.
