need help with interpretation
Four or so years on with the schtick where a reporter goes out to talk to voters somewhere out in the heartland (ultra critical Macomb County MI in this case).
And in this case, women Trump voters who might be wavering (but he does have such nice children!).
Lost the link, but anyway, as far as explaining why they voted for Trump in '16, it is always "because he's a straight shooter and means what he says."
Would someone care to decode that for me?

Means they 'just believe' with no evidence to back it up.
Indeed if they looked at any evidence they would understand that it is the opposite.
