Exactly right.
Had that discussion recently with a "progressive" friend that I've known my whole life, never worked a day in her life, wealthy family, traces their roots back to pre-America England. She wanted to know why I wouldn't get the vax, so I showed her my card. She wanted to know why I spoke out "against the vax and wearing masks", I basically used the same lines you just stated. She then insisted she was "right" and the "science was settled", and how we should support the President, etc. I almost laughed, actually about choked. Then she went into some further diatribe about how we should support our President (do as the government says), and how her family fought in the Revolutionary War. I simply asked, "Which side were they on?" Not sure she will speak to me anymore. Not sure I care.
