Why can't both sides act like adults and come up with some sort of compromise? My suggestion might be to try to get the 2% tax cut, but then raise the income level wher you quit paying SS taxes (or drop it farther, and eliminate that part completely, but that might be too big a change to the tax code). The conservatives would get a lower rate, the liberals would see the rich paying more into it, so the middle class could get their $50 or whatever cut without revenue loss. I may be oversimplifying here, but to me, the simpler the fix, the better. Why can't they look for a win win situation, instead of a win lose one?
