Re: 1%? ,01?

Are you also of the opinion that banks should handle VA loans also and keep the govt out of the guarantee business?

Re: 1%? ,01?

And college bound kids don't? Educating children is all of our businesses. Those that believe advanced eduction is a benefit to society. You cut college loan guarantees and you can cut the student population down by a third. Would that cut college costs? Perhaps but there still will be a large percentage of students without access to higher learning.

BUt then you don't wan them to have acess. All you think about is yourself and your moldy pocketbook.

College cost would be forced down because of the lack of availability of easy money. Those who wish to further their education would be able to do so at a much lower cost. Student loans has made higher education less affordable not more. And many student are saddled with unmanageable loans for years after they have left college. It's a form of indentured servitude.

Re: student loans

How much money do you think the 1% get each year? How much do you think a full professor at ASU makes? I think you are confusing the 3 main coaches- football, men's and women's basketball! And there certainly isn't equality there. ASU pays the head men's BB coach $1.1 mil and the lady's BB coach $477K. The ASU president makes $475K! Full professors only get less than a quarter mil. Hourly prices are $450-$580 PER HOUR for a class!

And what are taxpayers getting in return for unwittingly taking on all this risk? Despite the massive increase in federal aid, Obama hasn't made college less expensive.

The average tuition — net of all the government grants and subsidies — was $3,000, up from $2,100 in 2010, according to the College Board. Net tuition at private colleges climbed over those years as well.

Colleges apparently took all these generous new subsidies and raised their fees, leaving the prices paid out of pocket by families and students relatively constant.
