I personally believe free trade is the wisest and best ultimate goal.   That is not what we have with China or most other nations.   Vastly different regulatory and labor environments make that about impossible.

I've long pointed out the majority of votes against NAFTA and China/WTO were from the left side of the D side of the aisle. As to whether, if in power they could have put intelligent and constructive policies in place we'll never know. That would be as opposed to WWE Reality TV theatrics.

But the likelihood of The Base ever joining forces with their truest culture war enemies on anything seems dim.

BTW, that was actually the brilliance of the whole game from the 80s forward- split the resistance into the most implacable of foes over other identity things.
