Re: The trouble with liberals as explained by a long time democrat

Well Ronnie, There you go again. Ronnie please tell us what the national debt was when you were inaugerated and what it was the day G H W Bush was inaugerated.

Perhaps you didn't make a speech on that day for Hawken Cougar to link. I'll bet if Hawken was honest he would research the facts that show how phoney you really were.

Does this mean the Ronald of Reagan is equivilant of the Arlen of Spector that beleives he can switch parties at will for political expediency?

Sometimes actors just aren't believable. I guess thta is why he never received an Oscar. But then he did convince the GOP. Gullible old pharts.

Not so sure that we are going to come out all that well come Fall don....Everybody expects GOP gains in the fall in both houses of Congress and I'm close to going on record in predicting that there will be huge losses. Maybe hold the Senate by one or two. but the House is probably going to be lost, even with as big a turnover as that would take.

Just read the commments of an economist that I respect and he said that what is happening it that the period form 1945-1980 is being airbrushed out of U.S. history in the minds of the people, whether they experienced it and were familiar with it or not. On both sides of the politcal and idealogical aisle actually, for diverse reasons. That it is becoming commonly accepted wisdom that  there was no meaningful growth or general prosperity in that period, and that we've  only ever experienced real prosperity from 1980 on. Like the 35 years from the end of the War until the election of Ronald Reagan was The Dark Ages.

There are millions of "markets" aided wage earner Democrats who flowed upward on inflation and public debt who think that they actually had something to do with it and can be led to beleive that if they reject any and every new or  seemingly complex policy aimed at actually fixing something, all of what they rat holed away will be magically preserved and restored. They'll vote just as they did in '92 and '96....for the most attractive corporatist candidate, and we don't have many of those. And shouldn't have...but a severe lack of them is probably going to open the gates for a bloodbath.

There is a strong growing sentiment that we need to go back to the beginning of time..which of course would be seen as early in 1981.

You're right. It's difficult to remain optimistic under these circumstances.

It's really amazing how these folks view all our woes on socialist policies when clearly it is unbridled capitalism is what has us in the shape  we are in. Money interest buying elections, renting legislators and defruading everyone alpong the way.

It wasn't social security or medicare that put the financial markets in the dump[ster. It was medicaid that busted the federal budgets. Take away the peoples contribution to fica taxes and the end the soicial programs, the federal deficits would have been larger not smaller.

I am convinced that the right is using the treasury to stifle social programs. Clinton gets the budget back to balance and the righties cut the taxes to blow any possibility of debt pay down. The righties take power and run huge deficits without much concern about debt until the the dems come to power. Allof a sudden the right becomes debt conscious until they return to power. Cutting taxes and blowing surpluses is their methodology. Starve the dems into submission.

Don the main thing I want is protection from the Democrats, I`m tired of being their jailyard Ho. Seriously, look what Obama is doing to our once great military, sodomites will be able to serve openly, just another place for them to look for fresh meat. Obamacare, we can`t afford it. Is it worth it to have 2 or 3 years of free care but bankrupt the whole country in the process?? On the Mexicans, when Obama says he wants them on the path to citizenship, is he lying?? I don`t think he is on that issue, just another 20 million unwellcome guests at the table to devour our American pie. Don, we aren`t arguing who`s better the Hawkeyes or Cyclones if I thought Edison would have a better country under Obama-Dem control, I swear to God I would become a Democrat. Will Republicans improve things? If they understand how serious this mess is in the vain of Ron Paul, that is our only hope. If we have Mitt Romney Repubs we`ll get more of the same.
