What would you call the Washington DC snipers?

Sorry folks, terrorist isn't a word that Barry allows.

One of them said his intent was to kill his estranged wife and to make her look like one of several seemingly random murders.

I will start off by saying I don't know a lot of details about the whole thing, but I would consider that 'murder', as they weren't out to terrorize the town for a cause, so much as shooting people.  Also, when caught, there wasn't much worry about anyone else continuing their cause.

Re: Ft. Hood massacre reclassified as "workplace violence"

I did not know all that.  Thanks for the info.

I think I will change my opinion to 'terrorist'.

I only remember blurbs about it from the network news, and I remember them saying it was more along the lines of what Schnnurbart said, random killings to draw attention away from the one they wanted to kill.  Made it look like the work of a  twisted madman (with an assitant).  Thinking about it, though, to have an assistant or accomplice to that many shootings seems at odds of the idea of a 'lone gunman' and more along the lines of some sort of 'plot'.
