Re: Are you ready to buy GM vehicles from the Chinese?
A prosperous work force is the goal of everyone. What we can not allow is a work force that impoverishes the the rest.

Re: Are you ready to buy GM vehicles from the Chinese?
I believe that the only part of GM that was to be sold to China was the Hummer brand and am not sure it ever came about. They also sold off Saturn and shut down Oldsmobile. Just learned that the Chinese govt nixed the Hummer deal and while not dead yet it is in serious trouble. Seems that Ford is also trying to sell Volvo to China.

Are you impoverished because GM workers get a decent wage?

Re: Are you ready to buy GM vehicles from the Chinese?
Would one become impoverished if the federal government did not allow other cars into the country if they were built at a lower cost and of better quality than GM? Why should GM workers be satisfied with $25/hr if they can shut out competiton and charge $50/hr? $150/hr?

Re: Are you ready to buy GM vehicles from the Chinese?
I don't know 30. I see alot of competition against GM in this market place and I doubt you will find many cost savings from foreign retailers. As much as you seem to think that cost of production is a determinent factor of sales price, I think you will find that competivie prices have an impact on which car is sold. Not how much it cost to build it.
You still haven't answered why you begrudge auto workers a decent wage. Do You think they begrudge you for selling $10 beans and $4.50 corn. What causes your mindset. Petty jealousy or anti union fervor? You don't have to buy american. Buy anything you want but don't criticize those that don't harm you. Buy that rice burner and get even with those overpaid GM workers.

Re: Are you ready to buy GM vehicles from the Chinese?
I don't begrudge them a decent wage Mr Kraft. I'm from IN. We are a HUGE auto manufacturing state. I have many family members, and many many friends who either now work for, or have retired from unions. It is from them that I learned a long time ago that unions were their own worse enemy. Most of the people who work under union contracts are the cream of the earth, it is the unions defense of the indefensible that is bringing ruination to the manufacturing industries of this nation.

Re: Are you ready to buy GM vehicles from the Chinese?
Waste. Chrysler had a room where the screw ups set in and played cards because that was cheaper than having them on the line. Waiting for hours for a fork lift operator to move something out of the way because if a none forklift operator moved it he would get wrote up. People who cared about nothing but their pay check, quality meant nothing. Those type of things and the union would not allow them to be fired. Also many of them say the union priced them out of the workforce.

There is no satisfying you. You complain when they borrow the money and you demonize them when they pay it back.

Re: Are you ready to buy GM vehicles from the Chinese?
Yes, that is correct except for one small item--the working stiffs at GM, all the jobbers and the parts makers plus the other American auto makers who can't get their parts because without GM most of the parts makers went under or scaled back drastically also. There really would have been a trickle down effect of a company that large going under and this country would have found it very hard to survive. What do you really think would have happened if the govt had let GM and AIG and 90% of the big banks, who were ALL in trouble at the same time, go under and fail as you suggest is the nature of things?? I think that would have made the late 20s and early 30s look like a walk in the park. We wouldn't have 8-9% unemployment. It would have been closer to 20-30% or more. You just hate govt and especially a Democratic
