Re: Obama Continues To Make History

You know that one third of that is not true, one third is lies and the other third is made up. But it makes good reading and should boil the blood in the troops in November, if they can remember that long.

While I would agree most of it is hype and rhetoric, most of it is technically true, but not necessarily Obama's fault.

Re: Obama Continues To Make History

Didn't get past the second one to know that whomever wrote this POS is totally wrong on it.  The president can commit troops in an act of war and THEN inform Congress.

"The War Powers Resolution requires the President to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days, with a further 30 day withdrawal period, without an authorization of the use of military force or a declaration of war."

This has been done several times and that is what Obama did also.  Bush even went so far as to eavesdrop on Americans without benefit of a warrant from the FISA court which allows such acts to go without a warrant for upto 15 days while a warrant is sought and has NEVER denied such a warrant but bush claimed that they didn't have time to seek a warrant.  Total BS.  He also refused to let members of his administration answer questions before a congressional committee.  Guess those are all ok.

Re: I welcome this suit

In that itis good to clearly define the limits of executive power. I think we need to insist on a declaration of war in order to unite the cvountry in a concerted effort. I don't know that a few airstrikes in Lybia requires that but an invasion into Afghanistan and iraq surely requires that.

I would also include a constitutional amendment that a war effort automatically requires tax ncreases to fund the action. Lets test the american people to see if they really want to support such an effort. I suspect a 10% surtax would have prevented the incursion into Iraq. Most of the known war mongers don't want to pay the bill.

Re: Democrat Kucinich sued Obama over Libya

That would depend on whether he failed to notify within the 48 hours required or kept them in battle longer than 60 days without approval.  I don't know myself.  Do you?

Re: Democrat Kucinich sued Obama over Libya

Looking at that list I'm wondering  if in teh event  that they are all still around when I go if they could be recruited to be my pallbearers.
