Re: what do you want from the 1%

I'm concerned about the inability of monetary policy to forever forestall the effects of weak aggregate demand.

Also concerned about losing the republic irretrievably should we lurch into fullblown financial crisis.

Given the current zeitgeist the likelihood of a socialist reponse is almost nil; the consolidation of the fascist coup almost certain.

Re: what do you want from the 1%

Nobody has suggest you pay more taxes although i wish you would. I want you to prosper and have a higher income. I just think the investors and coupon clippers ought to pay the same tax rate that you and I do.

When Mitt that make 250 mill a year only pays 13% in federal taxes while you pay 15% in fica taxes alone, I would say the odds are stacked against you.

I don't want your money but the upper end fellows want your money. Every time we give them a tax cut or a tax incentive we raise our own taxes or fiscal responsibility. How much of this huge national debt can be ascribed to tax cuts and tax incentive. And the warring nation, who profits? The corps do while we sacrifice our money and our youth. No wonder they like wars. more profits and they don't lose sons and daughters.

100 % Tax

Some people I admire say tax 100 % of ALL income @ the One Billionth Dollar level.

Is it unfair to ask them to live on 999 Million dollars ???  They can use the other $  999,999.99 on fun money Smiley Happy

I would include something like Nox suggested as well, but I would tax 100 % at 250 Mil.

Re: 100 % Tax

But you know what?

If you taxed somebody who makes $15M in a year $7.5M, he might just up and not even do the totally socially destructive things he does! And maybe he'd even do something that contributes to society.

And then where the heck would all us little people be?

Re: 100 % Tax

I do think you can make a case for inheritance tax at an extremely high rate at very high levels- say beyond a few hundred $M or something.

Of course if you did, that would be the end of Family Farming!
