A good end to a wild week in the cattle market

Cattle on feed report was a non event.

Hopefully the meat sales report for this week and next week positive too.

Then it is back to the facts.  Low supply of cattle and growing demand for beef.

It has been a wild ride this month.

At what price will cash fats end the year at?

Good call on this $14 fat correction Mark

Re: Some here all off to AZ ropin for the winter..WOW gettin

some of those big strings of thin enough 1 ranch black cows P3's and P2's bought for $1,600 per.

unbelievable.  MO.

I'm a slow roper i guess....might have to help those fast folks out with cattle next spring if they come back to NM.

on the short yearling all black cuttin bulls weighing 575 to 600 i been basing em in the $195cwt range...bout as good as walk. think i'll just keep on keepin on on em too.

Are the "thin enough 1 ranch black cows P3's and P2's bought for $1600 per." the cows you told me about?

Re: Some were, had a couple more fresh loads come in, it blew me

away.

i thought the 1st cows off would just be followed by the rest being calves.

That was Not 2 B.

Fancy darn angus cows strait thru..bought em all.

WOW COWS strait thru.

the added money in this roping is now Up 10 maybe $20 million above a year ago.

Thank God for America.

Cowboys are the best darn gamblers, decision makers and suit case kinda farmers there ever was. MO.

Seems like a perfectly normal bet to me to leave say 25k to 250k behind to maybe make another 100k to 5mill down the road.

Just keep keep in mind, those BEST decisions made under that Cowboy hat ARE the USA.

Mark, are you saying buy and hold the cows versus buy and resell the cows?  What are you referring to when you say leave the money behind to make more down the road?

Re: Yep, run em year around

most any decent calf brings 1200 to $1,500.

some folks run a cow year around for $200.    others it costs $550.

that's a pretty profitable spread for raisng calves/running the cows.
