Bovine bonnets
Have a classified ad on the site today for a product called Bovine Bonnets. (Click here.) They're used to protect newborn calves from freezing their ears.
The fit is supposed to prevents removal by mother or calf. Company that makes them is based on North Dakota, where one might think they'd come in handy.
Is such a product practical? Anybody ever use anything like this?
Thanks for any feedback.

Re: Bovine bonnets
Hey John good morning there. These products are prolly more useful in an enviroment where other animals, calves or cows , can suck on the ears of these critters. If we get the calves in a hutch right away then we do not have aproblem with the cold and frostbite.
We got 10 inches last night here. I missed a drive way while plowing snow this morning and drove a tractor into the ditch. It's gonna be a long day! Wife already reminded me that I am not perfect. LOL Oh well and of course tractor is on main road so all the neighbors can rubber neck goin by! I hate winter. I am already tired and I have 10 hours to go today!

Re: Bovine bonnets
JR: Thanks for the feedback on the bonnets. Seems like they might have a niche in some operations then.
I thought my day got off to a slow start with the slow, slick commute to downtown Des Moines. Yours sounds a lot more challenging. There were a few cars in the ditch but not mine.
Good luck with the weather and the livestock chores.... -- John
