Bred Heifer Prices
Just compiled a new report on bred heifer prices across the country. They seem to be all over the board. Some drought areas are recording prices in the $1800 range while a lot of the country is in the $1400 with a few deals to be found around $1200. If you have grass this would be a great time to get into owning a few animals.

Re: Bred Heifer Prices
Good information HeiferPRO, but how does one know what to buy when our area is still in an ongoing drought with no relief in sight. I have been considering getting back into the cattle business, but sure would hate to lose my shorts if the grass doesn't grow next spring.

Re: Bred Heifer Prices
If you are one of the few places in the US that has moisture it might be a great time to get into the business. But no moisture - no cows. Do not pull the trigger till you see some MUD. Keep watching the drought monitor maps and hope that this drought moves out/dissipates. When it does - look out. Bred anything will be at a premium. $$.

Re: Bred Heifer Prices
NE US is hardly a factor but you almost can't source bred heifers.
Too much ole dairy pasture and hay, everybody wants beef cows.
