Case for country of origin labeling in nutshell.
Yuck!
School Lunches
Some of the tainted meat was sold for school meals or to retail chains including Wal-Mart Stores Inc., according to police and Brazil’s Federal Revenue agency. Some was exported -- police allege three BRF cargoes tainted with salmonella are still en route to Europe.
Wal-Mart said in a statement that it’s requested explanations from the suppliers cited by the police, and that its internal procedures on food safety are reliable.
Brazil’s Agriculture Ministry said that while the scandal revealed isolated cases, it may more broadly harm the country’s global trade reputation. Eumar Novacki, a secretary at the ministry, told journalists in Brasilia that repercussions from the case were “concerning,” as some importers may question Brazil’s overall food security system. The country is the world’s largest beef and chicken exporter, accounting for almost a fifth of global exports.
“I think long and hard before buying meat now,” Police Chief Mauricio Moscardi said in a press conference in Curitiba. “All 40 companies we investigated had issues.”
No, it`s not "one world".

Re: Case for country of origin labeling in nutshell.
Seen '' labeled '' cantaloupe, water melons , grapes, veggies , from Mexico , Chile , & other foreign sources --- Guess something costing 3X the price isn't worth a label unless it is for export destination ?
Hint, hint beef protein producers - your new customer millennials consumers are watching ---
BA - YOUR Last sentence - interesting very interesting ---

Re: Case for country of origin labeling in nutshell.
The thing is, if the consumers get a package of rotten meat one time, that could turn them off of meat all together. Look what happened with mutton, other countries eat lamb and this country did also, but the Army cooks in WWII and WWI ruined it, they didn`t know how to prepare it and it was probably old ewe meat to begin with. Well those returning servicemen absolutely forbid lamb to be served in their home after their bad experience.
And when we don`t differentiate between sources of meats in the supermarket counter and restaurants, we really put the reputation of our domestic product at risk. We have zero control over what goes on in Brazil or Mexico, here we do a pretty good job, there at least isn`t the corruption that foreign countries have.
That "It`s not one world" quote came from Paul Harvey that used to comment on the craziness going on in foreign countries and would never fly in this country. Though globalism seems to want to force the dogs and cats to eat together.

U B S , Credit Suisse , HSBC , ICBC , & domestics financials might or could affect or effect the dissensions legislated in the beltway ---
Harvey's statement holds less & less merit with the words called '' consolidation '' and a somewhat complacent & unexplained announcements from your elected officials ---

Re: Case for country of origin labeling in nutshell.
An update to the story. China and EU are halting meat imports from Brazil, so far I haven`t seen any movement in live cattle or lean hogs. If they have to take that meat to the dump and a ban on their exports, perhaps the US could pick up that slack? No yet anyway.
Paul Harvey`s quote was a foreshadowing of the globalism we see today...it`s not good, not working, but that doesn`t stop them from strapping a engine on a brick and pretending that it can fly like an airplane.
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) -- A scandal over alleged bribery in Brazil's meat-packing industry to allow the sale of expired meat deepened Monday as the European Union, China and Chile decided to halt some meat imports from Latin America's largest nation.
The developments represent a major blow to Brazil, one of the world's largest exporters of meat, which is struggling to emerge from its worst recession in decades
